Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga encompasses all the mainline movies and takes all these iconic adventures and expanded upon them even further with its own brand of storytelling and humor. Though the game has a childish appeal, the fact that it so lovingly encapsulates everything Star Wars will attract players of all ages.
Many players will be aware of what these Lego games are about while many will be lost and overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content this game packs in. The many aspects each player should be aware of about this game are listed here:
- Trilogy Choice
- Cheat Codes
- Collecting Studs
- Unlocking Characters
- Extra Menu
- Side Quests
- Skill Tree
- Easter Eggs
The game will nudge you at the start, to begin with A New Hope but you have the choice to begin whichever trilogy you want to. You can choose the prequels and begin with the Phantom Menace or you can start the sequels and begin with A Force Awakens.
You have to start from the first episode of the respective trilogy. Do keep in mind the later episodes of each trilogy will only be accessible whence you have completed the previous episodes.
You can use the codes option in the pause menu to get yourself some unique characters without having to go through the tedious process of unlocking and buying them. There are many unique characters and special vehicles and skins hidden behind these codes. You can even get access to some classes early on with these codes.
All the codes that are known right now are listed here.
Speaking for Studs, players who are accustomed to the Lego games know the value of this basic currency. To rank the highest in a level i.e. True Jedi you have to collect a certain number of Studs. Not only that, this currency is used to buy most of the 400 characters in this game.
The game will always be asking more Studs from you to buy all kinds of Star Wars memorabilia and the numbers will reach astronomical levels. Destroy everything in your vicinity to keep the Stud stack high.
As mentioned before the game features some 400 characters from the Star Wars series. It’s safe to assume that any character you have adorned over the years in this franchise is playable here. Just go to the character screen and select a locked character to know how to unlock it, and once you do, you have to buy it with Studs to be able to play with it.
The detailed different methods of unlocking characters are discussed here. (Link character article here)
This menu features some goofy unlocks that alter your gameplay like every lightsaber in the game will be turned into Baguette. There are also some useful unlocks here like the Stud Multipliers that will make your life easy when buying high-ticket items like capital ships etc.
These extra items are unlocked by buying them with a mix of both Studs and Datacards, you can find all Datacard locations here. The numbers of Studs to unlock these grow exponentially so its advised to invest in the multipliers beforehand.
Between most missions, you will be dumped into these semi-open world sections where you can explore around taking in all the sights and sounds of the Galaxy far far away. This is the time to find all the various side quests and content in the game.
Some quests will reward you with characters and some are steps to unlock certain others. There are races you can partake in. Quest givers will also require some specific category of characters to talk to them like empire NPCs will give quests to only empire characters.
This game features a rudimentary skill tree to enhance your character skills. There are skill trees only for specific categories of characters and will affect all within it. And there are some upgrades like faster build time that will have a general impact on overall characters.
These upgrades will cost Studs and Blue bricks too. Some upgrades are quite useless while others have crazy effects. Many people gloss over this aspect of the game so do check and invest in it time to time.
This whole game is a huge Easter egg! But I’m not talking about that. This Lego Star Wars series is a long-running franchise in itself and has many established Easter eggs, like the hot tub full of Stormtroopers. There are others that are reflective of the many iconic scenes from the movies with the humorous touch of Lego world.
Explore the world as much as you can so that you can discover these funny additions.
These are some of the things one should consider when starting this game. Use the Studs effectively at the start by investing in multipliers so that your late game will be less tedious.
