Mega Potions/Normal Potions

Mega Potions can be consumed from the Item Bar while in the field to restore 70 Health. They are an efficient upgrade to normal Potions, as they only require the addition of the common material Honey. These are what you will be using most of the time, especially if you are in High Rank or even Master Rank. Normal Potions can be consumed from the Item Bar while in the field to restore 35 Health. Because they are made from the common Herb, they are an inexpensive method for recovery while in combat.

Mega Potions – Restores a moderate amount of health. You can carry a total of 10 with you at one time.

Normal Potions – Restores a small amount of health. You can carry a total of 10 with you at one time.

Ancient Potions

Ancient Potions can be consumed from the Item Bar while in the field to increase maximum Health and Stamina by 50 until Quest completion or carting. These are important if you ever faint during your mission.

Ancient Potions – Fully restores Health and maximizes the size of your Health and Stamina Gauges. You can carry a total of 1 with you at one time.

Hot Drinks/Cool Drinks

Hot Drink can be consumed from the Item Bar while in the field to grant a buff that negates damage from Extreme Cold caused by the Hoarfrost Reach and lasts for ten minutes. This only benefits you if you own the Iceborne DLC, so don’t worry about this if you don’t own it. Cool Drink can be consumed from the Item Bar while in the field to grant a buff that negates damage from Extreme Heat caused by certain areas of the Elder’s Recess. Flash Pods/Dung Pods

When used from the Item Bar while in the field, Flash Pods will be loaded into the Slinger, and can then be fired directly from it. After traveling a short distance, a Flash Pod will detonate in a bright flash, stunning the creature so you can get those extra attacks in. Dung Pods are shot the same way, except these are used to either repel another creature from the area or to help you recover by sending the monster you are fighting away from you for a little bit.

Shock Traps/Pitfall Traps

Using a Shock Trap from the Item Bar while in the field will deploy it on the ground at the Hunter’s feet, priming a small area around it. When a Large Monster enters this area, it will immediately be immobilized for 7.5 seconds. The Pitfall Trap works the same way and it immobilizes the creature for ten seconds. When they are in a trap and they are very weak, you can capture them by throwing at least 2 Tranq Bombs at the ground near its head.

Tranq Bombs

However, a Monster must be caught in either a Pitfall Trap or Shock Trap and be in a Weakened state at 30% Health or less to actually capture it.

Tranq Bombs – A hand grenade used to capture monsters ensnared in traps. Can be slammed against the ground. You can carry a total of 8 with you at one time.

This is especially useful when facing Monsters such as Odogoron, Behemoth, and Lunastra. You can only get these from the Provisions Stockpile in Astera, so if you are gonna fight one of those three monsters, always bring some of these along.

Astera Jerky – Juicy, dried meat made by Astera’s chef. Boosts natural healing and cures bleeding. You can carry a total of 5 with you at one time.

Powercharm/Powertalon

Carrying the Powercharm in the Item Pouch boosts Raw Attack Power by 6. The Powercharm can be used to craft the more powerful Powertalon, which is crafted by combining the Powercharm with a Bazelgeuse Talon. You just need to do research on the enemy you are about to fight so you can put the needed consumables and items into your inventory. Happy hunting!
