Destiny 2 Is Forsaken Worth It?

Destiny 2 Is Forsaken Worth It?

Destiny 2 is a massive game, but there are a couple of paid items you will need to get to get the full Destiny 2 experience. Yes, you can just play the base game and it will fill every second of your time, but why not add another long, yet amazing DLC. Destiny 2 has soo much content, but Forsaken just brings a lot more to the table. To answer your question, it definitely is worth your time and money. Here are some questions about Forsaken that people are asking about.

How is the story?

The story of Forsaken is actually better than the main story in my opinion. From hunting down all the escaped prisoners to the 2 new areas to explore, there is just so much content put into this DLC. Following years of turmoil, The Reef has begun to degrade into lawlessness. Cayde-6 and the Guardian are sent to investigate the area and help alleviate the area’s major stresses.

Upon landing at The Reef, a massive prison break occurs at the Prison of Elders, freeing some of the most wanted and dangerous criminals back into the galaxy. Beyond the Vanguard’s authority, the player will pursue these fugitives deep into the Reef.

The most powerful of the fugitives, known as the Scorn, is responsible for leading the breakout. Petra Venj and the Guardian, fueled by revenge, look to hunt the 8 Barons of the Scorn, eventually culminating in the discovery of the Awoken homeworld known as the Dreaming City.

How long is it?

The main story alone takes about 10-15 hours to beat. There is just so much more to this DLC though. You will be surprised at how much time you can put into this DLC. I am saying that you will get your money’s worth out of it if you buy it. It adds so much to the already massive game and gives you more reasons to play. Also, the Dreaming City is one of my favorite places in Destiny 2, which comes with Forsaken.

How much content does it add?

Forsaken introduces several major updates to the core Destiny formula, improving upon the existing weapon, loot, and upgrade systems. The random roll weapon system from the first Destiny will be introduced alongside all Year 2 weapons. New weapons will have a variety of perks randomly assigned when you obtain them.

The Masterwork system has been greatly expanded. Masterworks have evolved from one single upgrade to ten distinct upgrade tiers. Specific Masterwork tiers grant unique bonuses as well, such as kill tracking at Tier 7 and a masterwork emblem at max level, Tier 10.

The weapon slot system has been opened up so that many weapon types can be equipped in various weapon slots. With this change, weapons are now assigned an ammo type instead, similarly to the ammo types used for various weapon types in Destiny. Along with this, Weapon Mods now include various weapon perks that can be attached to weapons instead of simple power increases or elemental changes.

Are there new enemies?

The Scorn is an undead Fallen faction of terrorists led by Uldren Sov and a group of Barons under the command of Fikrul, the Fanatic, and are the main antagonists in the story of Destiny 2: Forsaken. During the events of Forsaken, the group orchestrates a jailbreak in the Prison of Elders, located within The Reef.

They are responsible for the death of Cayde-6 who, along with the Guardian were dispatched to quell the uprising. The Scorn takes on a notably different appearance than typical Fallen, in part due to their many repeated deaths and resurrections.

How does it compare to the base game?

In my opinion, Forsaken is better than the base game in so many ways. From all the new weapons to the new armor sets, there is just so much to collect and explore. I would play the base game before you play Forsaken because you get the base stuff out of the way. There are bows that were added into Forsaken, and they are probably my favorite weapon type in the game, so if you like bows, then Forsaken is definitely worth it.

Is it worth it?

I would definitely say that this game is worth the money. This is the only DLC I would pay full price for if I needed to buy it again. The DLC just adds so much to the game and if you like Destiny, then this is a great addition to have for the game. It adds 2 new areas to explore and grind in because there are all sorts of new things added to the game. This DLC is amazing and I highly recommend the buy.
