Upgrading and obtaining new gear is part of the process in games like Black Myth Wukong and for that, you need some special materials. One such instance of said material is Refined Iron Sand. Though a bit rare, there are still plenty of ways to get your hands on one.
In this guide, we will cover everything about Refined Iron Sand in Black Myth Wukong, including where to find it and how to utilize it optimally.
What is Refined Iron Sand in Black Myth Wukong?
Refined Iron Sand is one of the many available materials used to craft and upgrade weapons in Black Myth Wukong. What sets the Refined Iron Sand apart is the fact that it is used to upgrade or craft Epic and Legendary weapons.
Both epic and legendary weapons are in the top tiers and deal the most damage. This fact makes grinding for the refined iron sand all the more worth it. You will need different amounts of it to either upgrade or craft a weapon.
The units of sand required will depend on the rarity and class of the weapon. The higher the level or class of the weapon, the more Iron Sand it will require. For example, if you want to craft Loongwreathe Staff, an epic weapon, you will need 4 units of Refined Iron Sand and a few other items: Thunder Tail, Thunder Bone, and 21000 Will.
Where to find Refined Iron Sand
You can mainly get Refined Iron Sand in Chapter 3 and onwards, but if you want to go the extra mile, you can get 4 pieces of this rare material in Chapter 2.
Chapter 2
Here are all the places where you can find Refined Iron Sand in Chapter 2.
Sandgate Pass Keeper’s Shrine
You can buy 1 Refined Iron Sand from the Sandgate Pass Keeper’s Shrine located in the Secret Kingdom of Sahli. It is a secret area that is unlocked after completing the Yellow Robed Squire questline in Chapter 2 and defeating the final boss – Yellow Robed Squire.
Once you have taken down the Boar, there will be a giant door just behind it. Walk through the crack between the two doors to enter the secret area. Here you will find the shrine that will let you buy a single piece of Refined Iron Sand.
Defeating Fuban
Yaoguai King: Fuban is the final boss in one of the longest optional questlines in The Secret Kingdom of Sahli. Defeating him will give you the second available Refined Iron piece in Chapter 2 of Black Myth Wukong.
While it is not a particularly difficult battle, you might have to bring your A-game if you want to make this battle a swift one. The boss is thick-skinned, to say the least, and absorbs a lot of your weaker blows so make sure every attack does solid damage so you can bring down some of his HP.
Defeating Black Loong
While we are out here going the extra mile, might as well take down another optional boss and get ourselves another piece of Refined Iron Sand. Black Loong is an optional boss in Chapter 2 and taking it down will reward you with 1x Refined Iron Sand, along with a few other goodies.
You won’t find him out in the open. You must defeat King of Flowing Sand and Second Rat Son and only then the path towards Black Loong will open up.
Completing Chapter 2
Completing Chapter 2 will also get you a piece of Refined Iron Sand. Though it won’t be the easiest thing to do the reward makes all the effort worth it.
Chapter 3 and Beyond
Here is how you can get Refined Iron Sand in Chapter 3 and beyond:
Defeating Tough Enemies
Some of the tougher enemies found in Chapter 3 of Black Myth Wukong drop Refined Iron Sand as a reward upon defeating them. You can actually use this method to farm a decent amount. All you have to do is find an enemy that drops the refined iron, defeat them, run to the nearest Keeper’s Shrine, teleport to another location then teleport back.
Go back to the same spot where you found the enemy previously, there is a good chance the enemy might’ve spawned again, and you can kill them again for a second piece of the rare crafting material.
From Opening Chests
Collecting Refined Iron Sand becomes a tad easier during the 3rd Chapter as you can also find it in a lot of the chests lying around in the area. The further you progress into the story, the more often you will find it by looting chests.
Buying From The Store
You can also buy a limited stock of Refined Iron Sand from the store as well. Some of the locations in Chapter 3 will show this material in the shop with a hefty price tag of 1200 Wills. You cannot buy as much as you want because only a limited number of pieces will be available at each location.
How to Use Refined Iron Sand
Thankfully, using the Refined Iron Sand is substantially easier than finding it. As mentioned before, you can use it to upgrade or craft new weapons.
To do so, go to any Keeper’s Shrine and go to Craft Menu. In the menu, you will see all of the options to craft. Scroll down to find the one you want to craft. If you have all of the necessary materials, along with the required amount of Refined Iron Sand, you will be able to craft the weapon.
This covers everything known about the Refined Iron Sand in Black Myth Wukong. While it might take a few extra quests and a couple of detours once you obliterate bosses with the new Legendary Weapon, you won’t be complaining anymore.
