Borderlands 3 is a very massive game that you have no idea what to do when you first start a new game. The biggest thing that the game has is its Side Missions. There are 91 Side Missions in the game, and they take a while to complete. The biggest question that people might ask is when actually to complete them all. I am here to answer that question.
Here are the questions about when to do side missions in Borderlands 3:
- When should I do the Side Missions?
- How many Side Missions are there?
- What do Side Missions do for me?
- What else is there besides Side Missions?
When should I do the Side Missions?
The best time to do side missions is after you beat the main story. After you beat the story, you can start Mayhem Mode. It is a mode that you can turn on that boosts the difficulty and defense of you and the enemies you fight. This change allows you to get more Experience for each kill you get and also lets you find better gear more often.
Before Mayhem Mode, the missions had specific levels, but once you unlock Mayhem Mode, it brings all the levels up to your level. Every Side Quest you complete will allow you to level up quicker than usual. A new Guardian Rank will also allow you to get upgrades and skins for your character as you play the game. Guardian Rank also gives you boosts in the area that you choose.
How many Side Missions are there?
There are 91 Side Missions currently in the game, and they all take a while to complete. Remember to have Mayhem Mode on so you can get the most out of each mission. The more you complete when Mayhem Mode is on, the quicker you will level up in the long run. At level 50, you will have increased Legendary weapons and gear drops, and everything you get will be perfect against all enemies. Make sure you beat the campaign before you start doing the Side Missions unless you are thinking about going right into True Vault Hunter Mode.
Once you get 100% completion in your playthrough, it is recommended to start True Vault Hunter Mode so you can get better gear. It will also prepare you for the upcoming DLCs that Gearbox will release in the coming year. If you don’t have the Season Pass, wait for the DLC to come out and see if it is worth getting. It is a hefty price, so most people probably won’t get it unless you are a huge Borderlands fan.
What do Side Missions do for me?
Side missions give you a lot of good items like shields, guns, and money. Money is significant to have a lot of because of how much you need to buy armor and whatnot. Eridium can also be found during Side Quests, and you can use that to purchase weapon skins, character skins, and even charms for your weapons. You can also use it to make weapons with the Eridium gun maker.
Everything you get in the game will help bring you towards being the Ultimate Vault Hunter you wanted to be when you first started the game. Make sure you play all the Side Missions.
What else is there besides Side Missions?
There are many other things to do besides Side Quests that help make your character have 100% completion. Here are all the other things that you can do:
Challenges – Completing these challenges earns you experience and potential enhancements for your vehicle, so they’re definitely worth getting, even though they can be a little hard to track down if you don’t have a guide to assist you.
Red Chests – Certain chests will always have unique loot. These Red Chests can be found in each region – sometimes after a boss fight or hidden in a side mission, and while their level is tied to the region, they can be reopened when quitting and restarting the game.
Crew Challenges – Crew Challenges are hidden collectibles that can be found on every Borderlands 3 map. When found or completed, they award players with experience points, cash, or Eridium. You can find the list under “Crew Challenges” when checking your map.
Eridium Writing Slabs – These are slabs that can be read after a particular story mission, and there are 30 in one playthrough. They give you 25 Eridium per every one you read, so make sure you find them all.
Dead Claptrap Pieces – These Claptrap pieces can be found worldwide, and they are considered Crew Challenges. There are a total of 35 in one playthrough, and once you find them all, you will unlock a Legendary pistol called the Baby Maker++. It is worth finding all the pieces.
