Sea of Thieves: Best Way to Make Money (in 2024)

Sea of Thieves: Best Way to Make Money (in 2024)

In Sea of Thieves, every savvy pirate knows that treasure isn’t just about the haul – it’s about keeping the gold rolling in steadily. In a game with fierce rivals, pricey weapons, and ship cosmetics all demanding serious coin, it pays to have a reliable source by which you can make a lot of money over an extended period of time.

They should be methods you can keep coming back to again and again. To help keep your gold reserves full and your ship looking sharp, here are some of the best ways to make money in Sea of Thieves in 2024.

1. Completing Skeleton Camps

Skeleton Camp

Completing the Skeleton Camps is arguably one of the easier methods of earning gold with little to no difficulty. There are tons of skeleton camps spread across different islands and all you have to do is match some constellations and defeat a bunch of Skeletons.

We recommend using a simple sword and throwing knife as they are the most effective against them. Once you have completed the camp, grab the orb of secret and sell it to any of the three trading companies.

Every orb will net you about 20,000 gold and if you complete the additional constellations at the end of the camp, you can easily earn around 50,000 from completing a single Skeleton camp, along with a couple of other rewards.

2. Emissary Missions

Emissary Mission

Raising an Emissary Flag is another way to make additional profits from simple tasks that would otherwise yield lower rewards. With Faction-specific missions, you can level up your grade and once you are at Grade 5, you can easily earn 2.5x the rewards making it an extremely profitable investment.

You should keep in mind that you will be taking part in a lot of PvP activities and these lobbies are unforgiving so this is a high-risk high-reward method but in my opinion, the payout is worth the effort and the risk. You can try almost any of the methods given on the list as an Emissary if you want a bigger reward.

Another thing you can do while raising an Emissary Flag is steal other pirates’ Emissary Flag and sell it to the Reapers. Again, if your Grade is higher, you will be rewarded generously. You might also find Captain’s Log books of ships that have sunk. They can also be sold for some gold, though not a lot but it’s free money.

3. Gold Hoarder Vaults

Gold Hoarder

If you are part of the Gold Hoarders’ Emissary then you get paid big time. With the Gold Hoarders Flag raised on the ship, you will be able to solve complex puzzles and complete quests in order to find the coordinates of hidden vaults that house a very large sum of gold.

This isn’t going to be easy by any means and might take you a long time but at the end, when you see all that gold in front of your eyes, you will be looking for more of these missions, the moment you are done with the first one.

4. PvP and PvE Raid

PvP

What kind of Pirate are you if you are not raiding other ships? With tons of PvP opportunities, you will come across a plethora of ships and more often than not, they are loaded. If your crew is organized and you have all the right tools, make sure you milk them for every last penny and leave not a single plank intact.

If you are playing with an Emissary Flag, the loot you will receive will be worth much more. You can sell the loot for a decent amount depending on the type of crew you took on. Along with gold, your reputation also shines. This is a method you should be very careful about as others are also going to target you for the same reason.

You should also choose your enemies wisely. If you bite on to more than you can chew, the enemies can clean you out pretty quickly.

5. Legend of the Veil Voyages

Veil Voyages

This is one of Athena’s Fortune Voyages where you will go through three chapters worth of content completing multiple quests, and side quests, taking on different enemies, and solving complex puzzles. At the end of each chapter, you will receive some kind of treasure which is going to be Athena’s Lost Fortune Treasure.

These treasures are among the highest-valued treasures in the game and while this voyage takes a lot of time to complete the reward the whole experience will make you forget all the efforts you made, chasing these rewards.

6. Raiding Skeleton Forts

Skull Fort

If you see a giant skeleton in the sky that means there is a Skeleton Fort nearby that you can raid and get your hands on some valuable rewards. Raiding a Skeleton Fort means that you will be taking on waves of Skeletons in a closed space.

You can’t do this task solo and would need a full crew to pull off this heist. Something to notice here is that if the Skeleton in the sky is glowing orange means that some crew already beat you to the fort and if you go there now, Skeletons won’t be the only thing you will have to fight.

The situation can also be flipped and you and your crew can be ambushed while you are busy cleaning waves of undead creatures. So the method carries a bit of risk but you know this when you enter this life of an outlaw in Sea of Thieves.

7. Siren Shrines

Siren Shrine

This is a similar situation to a Skeleton Camp or a Fort where you will need to clear out hordes of enemies in return for treasures that you can later flip for Gold.

These shrines carry a lot of risk so this isn’t the safest method out there but if you are running an Emissary Flag and have leveled up to a higher grade, Siren Shriens can be very profitable.

You will come across more than a few Shrines in Sea of Thieves and each one will vary in terms of rewards so it is best to spend some time and explore every nook and cranny for rewards that can later be traded in for some real cash.

8. Reapers Bounty Treasure

Reapers Bounty

Reapers Bounty Chests carries valuable treasures that you can easily sell for upwards of 10,000 gold and they are not that hard to come across though you should remember that if your ship is carrying a Reaper’s Bounty, you will be marked on the map for other players to see and raid.

If you want to earn even more profits, you can raise the Reaper’s Emissary Flag, and the Treasure will nearly double in value based on your Grade. If you are up for a PvP challenge where your ship stands out like a sore thumb then this method is definitely right up your alley.

9. Sea Forts

Sea Fort

These Sea Forts carry a lot of similarities to a Skeleton Fort but the risk and the time required to clear these forts are much less. You don’t even need a crew to clear the Fort and grab the treasure. You can do this solo. This is especially an effective method when you are just starting out in Sea of Thieves.

It might be a good idea to do this fort with a Gold Hoarder’s Flag as that will yield you much higher and more valuable rewards. There are a total of six forts and they are easily the fastest way to earn some gold. This is a low-risk, low-reward scenario but that shouldn’t stop you from earning some easy cash.

10. Athena’s Fortune Voyages

Athenas Fortune

Though this is a late-game method and can only be done if you are Pirate Legend. Athena’s Fortune Voyages a longer quests often including multiple shorter quests. These mini-missions will net you Athena’s Fortune Treasures which are some of the most valuable treasures in the game with each one selling for around 10,000 gold and that’s just without the Emissary Flag.

You will be solving puzzles, taking on Skeletons, and challenging shipwreck dives to complete a series of challenges. If you are looking for some quick buck then this method isn’t for you but if you are looking for a significant payout then there is no better method than completing Athena’s Voyages in Sea of Thieves.

With all of these strategies, your gold reserves are bound to swell as you explore, battle, and outwit others in the Sea of Thieves.

From tackling Skeleton Forts and raiding Sea Forts to diving deep for Siren Shrine treasures and running lucrative Athena’s Fortune Voyages, you now have a diverse set of options to keep the gold flowing. Keep your wits sharp, and your weapons ready, and remember: every adventure could lead to riches! So, set sail and make every voyage count.
