15 Best Spirits in Black Myth Wukong

15 Best Spirits in Black Myth Wukong

You must have seen the transformations in Black Myth Wukong, but are you aware of the quick transformations using the Spirits you acquire from bosses and mini-bosses throughout the game? These Spirits are part of your equipment kit, letting you swiftly change forms mid-battle to use an enemy’s ability and return to your monkey self.

There are more than 50 spirits in Wukong(spread over 30 hours of gameplay), each with a bombastic move and a passive effect. We will cover some of the best Spirits you should look into when building your Destined One. I’m sure there is a spirit for you on this list.

1- Wandering Wight

Wandering Wight - Black Myth Wukong

This is one of the best Spirits you can find relatively right out of the gate in Chapter 1. Not to mention, it is an Epic rarity spirit. The head bash comes out incredibly fast, considering the size of this spirit, and doesn’t overstay its welcome.

The resulting damage is no laughing matter, too. Expect weaker enemies to die in one hit and bosses to get stunned by Wandering Wight’s bronze noggin.

But wait, it gets better! The spirit’s passive effect is a straight increase in Defense. You must be aware of the amount of damage the bosses in Wukong dish out, making this defensive boost a godsend. And, you can upgrade the spirit to gain even more defense of upwards of 20 to 30.

Wandering Wight is one of those spirits you can equip and forget right from the start, and you will profit from it throughout the entire playthrough.

2- Flint Vanguard

Flint Vanguard - Wukong

This is a late-game, Chapter 5, spirit, but it shouldn’t be disregarded. Once activated, you will turn into this rocky behemoth and perform five slams with your fists.

Each hit will cause the ground to erupt magma that will stack Scorch and might lead to proccing burn that will deal tick damage over time. The 5-hit combo staggers anyone caught in it, and the Bane damage is just icing on the cake.

Flint Vanguard’s passive effect will increase the Scorch damage, meaning each hit from the spirit will inflict more damage. You will also raise your burn resistance, which will help you avoid turning into crisps when traversing those fiery biomes in Black Myth Wukong.

3- Mother of Flamlings

Mother of Flamlings Spirit

Out of the frying pan into the lap of a fiery mother! This is another spirit you will receive in Chapter 5, although her usefulness is more across the board. As the name suggests, Mother of Flamlings will call upon her children to aid you in the fight.

She will scream, and a few of her blazing centipede babies will pop out of the ground. They will continue to shoot fireballs at the enemy for a while. Continuing your punishment while being aided by summons is invaluable, and that too who deals Scorch damage.

Passively dealing elemental damage shouldn’t be taken lightly. And to top it off, you can increase the number of Flamlings as you upgrade this spirit.

What makes this even more impressive is that you will reduce the cooldown for all your spells. If you can generate Mana consistently, you will never be hindered by your spells not being ready. Upgrade her, and your cooldown will only go down. This is a must if you rely heavily on spells for your build.

4- Father of Stones

Father of Stones Black Myth Wukong

Another Chapter 5 find, this spirit will release two roars that act as an AOE, harming all enemies caught in its radius. Both the roars are executed pretty quickly. This is a good attack when surrounded by enemies.

However, I won’t pick Father of Stones for his skill; I will choose him for the passive boost in Critical Hit Chance and Critical Damage. I’m a sucker for damage output, and anything that pumps up those damage pop-up numbers lures me in.

Not only will your chances of landing a Crit be raised, but you will also be dealing even more Crit damage. The chance and damage number will get even better with each upgrade.

Nothing beats raw damage; I will be sporting this spirit in most scenarios.

5- Non-Void

Non-Void Wukong

This is a spirit for all of you slippery monkeys out there. Unlockable in Chapter 3, activating Non-Void will turn you into a wraith and pull you back away from any incoming attack. This is a quick defensive skill that acts like a backstep with i-frames. And it only has a low Qi cost, meaning you can use it more frequently and even make it a part of your defensive combat maneuvers.

His passive effect is in line with his slick personality. You will regain some stamina with each hit you receive. It must have happened to you where you got a bit greedy with your attacks only to get hammered by the foe cause you didn’t have enough stamina to dodge away.

This passive is designed to counter just that. You can roll away with your recovered stamina when you get stuck in an enemy’s combo.

6- Non-White

Non-White spirit

Non-White has a fast ambush skill, in which he phases behind an enemy and stabs them with thorns that sprout from his body. This spirit is fantastic at confusing the enemy. One second you are in front and the other you are behind them. And the damage from the thorns is adequate enough to warrant this skill’s use.

The passive effect will entice you if you have a build that plays around with the Four Banes. Equipping Non-White will improve the damage of both Poison and Frost. You can get your hands on him in Chapter 3.

7- Gore-Eye Daoist

Gore-Eye Daoist Black Myth Wukong

I love spirits whose skills and passive effects are right up my alley, especially those I find early in the game, so I have time to upgrade them. You can find him in Chapter 2.

Nevertheless, I like Gore-Eye Daoist’s active skill more. Once triggered, this creepy dude will jam a staff into the ground with a red glowing radius around it. Staying within this crimson aura will enhance your attack power and, as you know by now, how much I value straight-up damage.

You are already accustomed to staying inside a circle if you constantly use the Ring of Fire spell. Upgrade the spell with its skill tree, and it gets even better. This skill’s effects can be piled on top of the Ring of Spell, and you will see some excellent outcomes if you upgrade that spell and this spirit.

Speaking of spells, the passive will help cast those spells too. The expansion of the overall Mana bar will give you more juice to cast all types of spells specifically the Ring of Fire that pairs so well with the skill.

I must stop praising this spirit, or we will run out of space.

8- Guangmou

Guangmou Wukong

Another minion-summoning spirit, although you will find it in the first chapter of Black Myth Wukong, giving it more time to be utilized. The summoned vipers will fire poison at the enemy, which might end up poisoning the foe, and their HP is slowly eaten away. The snakes will go away when their venom runs out.

I can’t stress enough the importance of minions, especially the ones that inflict some elemental tick damage. The number of snakes will increase as you upgrade the spirit.

Your minions’ poison damage will get heightened with the spirit’s passive effect. Also, you will gain additional poison resistance, which will be helpful in the initial chapters.

9- Earth Rakshasa

Earth Rakshasa Spirit

Located in Chapter 5, Earth Rakshasa is another defensive spirit. I will admit the skill here isn’t as valuable where he thrusts a shield into the ground with a slight AOE of damaging nearby enemies. The shield, nonetheless, stays on the ground and can be used to take cover. The correct use can make this a viable skill.

The passive effect is the real deal. After getting hit, you’ll receive increased damage reduction for a short while. This is exceptionally potent when going up against enemies with long attack chains. Instead of losing all your HP to a long combo, you can survive the onslaught with the help of this passive.

10- Puppet Tick

Puppet Tick - Black Myth Wukong

Minion spirit for the win! This time, you will call upon Stone Spiders. These spiders will pursue enemies and bite them, dealing physical damage. Once their timer runs out, they will burst with venom spreading around them, potentially poisoning enemies, too.

Unlike previous minions, these chase enemies instead of being stationary turrets. Not to mention, the two-pronged attack combo gives them more variety than the rest of the minions in the game. You will add more spiders to your army with each upgrade.

To stay on point with the minion theme, the passive effect will lower the mana requirement for the A Pluck of Many spell. This is one of the best and downright OP spells in Wukong (if you upgrade it correctly); with its reduced cost, you will send in more of your clones to do your dirty work.

And just think about summoning the spiders with your monkey copies; you will dominate anyone who dares stand in your way.

11- Clay Vajra

Clay Vajra - Wukong

I must confess that Clay Vajra was selected for her design. Just look at her! Doesn’t your soul tremble when you see her?

However, it turns out her active skill is pretty decent, too. When you transform into her, she will start striding forward while spinning and spewing jets of flames from all four or her knees in a wide AOE attack. The skill ends with a devastating swing of her weapon. Combine the burn damage you deal with the physical damage from the swing; you are looking at a pretty lethal skill.

The Burn resistance for passive is excellent when facing Scorch elemental-type enemies.

12- Falcon Hermit

Falcon Hermit Spirit

Time to give Frost a bit of recognition. Falcon Hermit will swing his fan/weapon, sending forth a tornado of frost. The tornado will travel some distance, dealing Frost damage along its path, and anyone caught in it will have a chance of getting frozen in place.

If you line it up right, the tornado can hit multiple enemies, and if you time it right, the frozen enemies become standing ducks for you to put in some free hits.

Additionally, the passive increases the Frost damage, too so you are looking at more damage output from each hit of the tornado.

This is a no-brainer pick if you are leaning towards a Frost build.

13- Rat Governor

Rat Governor Black Myth Wukong

This spirit is Lightning or Shock’s time to shine. As you transform into him, he will jump back and thrust his staff forward, firing a stream of lightning at an enemy. If you proc Shock on the enemy, they will be susceptible to taking more damage for a while. Exploit this window when you get the chance.

The fully upgraded version will summon three Rat Governors simultaneously, dealing more Thunder damage and increasing the chance to inflict Shock. Also, the default moderate Qi usage allows you to use it often.

The passive effect amplifies Thunder Damage, buffing up this already mighty Bane.

14- Spearbone

Spearbone - wukong

Spearbone begins his battery by screaming and sending enemies flying, then sticks his shield in front, starts charging forward, bulldozing anyone in its path, and follows it up with a shield ground smash. This long combo of physical attacks is suitable for groups of enemies lined up and even singular bosses ready to be staggered if you land the whole chain on them.

The passive damage reduction effect is sweet and straightforward. The less damage you take, the happier the monkey.

15- Old Ginseng Guai

Old Ginseng Guai Spirit

Rounding off this list is the last remaining summoner spirit, Old Ginseng Guai. This spirit summons a Ginsenglings, a bizarre humoind tree thing that chases opponents and strike them down. Althought the minion fights very clumsily, the pure physical damage it dishes out is worth your while. With both of you ganging up on bosses, they won’t know who to target thus spelling their end.

The passive is geared around minion builds. If you want to lead an army then the passive effect of increasing the health for summoned minions has to be the choice.

Keep in mind you can upgrade each individual Spirit at the Keeper’s Shrine. Depending on the Spirit, upgrading will lower their Qi activation cost, increase their duration, boost their damage, or even add extra summons. Choose the Spirit that synergizes well with your build.
