Apex Legends has been a great addition to the battle royale playing field with its smooth movement and character ability being the highlight that sets it apart. The game has dominated the PC/console world and recently launched on mobile platforms where it has garnered quite a lot of praise. With so many players getting on the hype train the skill level difference between veterans and ameteur is quite extensive whereby new players might face some pressure going up against their experienced counterparts.
The question arises from both player sides whether Apex Legends have bots so that new players can practice honing their skills and veteran players might feel the lack of challenge if mindless bots are running on the battleground.

The answer to this is Yes and No! In Apex Legend PC/console there are no bots in the main game but you can spawn a few in the practice arena for an extra layer of challenge. In Apex Legends Mobile there are bots when you first start playing this version and are slowly taken out as soon as you start to level up.

Bots in Apex Legends – PC/Console
On the PC and consoles, Apex Legends doesn’t have any way of matchmaking with or there aren’t any bots in the main battle royale. So you are thrown right from the get-go into player filled servers and are essentially asked to practice directly as the game is intended.

There are some static bots that are in the firing range/practice arena where you can try out the game mechanics. These “bots” are there just for target practice and don’t move or shoot back at all and though this is good for practice purposes it doesn’t provide the challenge of an actual moving target. For this reason, there is a hidden easter egg of sorts that lets you spawn proper bots to practice on.
Apex Legends – Firing Range Bot Easter Egg

- Begin Firing Range in Apex Legends.
- Leave the cave you spawn in and move towards the left-most cave.
- In this cave you have to jump to the platform above you as seen in the picture above. The cave is quite dark so it might be hard to see. Use any Legend with traversal ability, we used Loba’s teleporting ability.
- Once on top of the platform move to the middle of it while you are facing the entrance of the cave. Drop everything in your inventory as it is necessary for the easter egg to work.
- Now crouch and look straight down next to the edge/railing of the platform and open up your Legend selection screen and simply switch to any other character.
- If you hear a mechanical sound after the switch the easter egg has worked.
- Now go out of the cave to where the weapons platform are and you will see actual moving bots that will shoot back at you.

Apex Legends Mobile – Bots

Apex Legends Mobile works a bit more different than its PC/console version in terms of bots. Apex Legends Mobile does have bots in the main game going as far as the first main battle royale session that you ever play on your device will be full of bots. This is to ensure that the players get used to the controls of the game and how everything else works.
As and when you start leveling up and getting more experience under your belt the game starts to thin out the bot numbers for actual players in the lobby. Many have reported that starting from level 5 the number of bots starts to decrease and by level 8 they are totally removed.
Both versions of the game do have bots in some capacity and they are primarily for practicing and essentially getting the lay of the land. Once the player has enough experience then there is no actual option of adding bots to the battle royale and you have to face other players. And that is the name of the game so can’t hide from it.
