Now that FF16 has been released on the PC with all its bells and whistles, we must figure out how to initiate the Rising Tide DLC in Final Fantasy 16. You must jump through some hoops and tick a few boxes before the letter arrives to invite Clive to the Rising Tide DLC.
Pre-Requisite To Start Rising Tide DLC
The Rising Tide DLC and Echoes of the Fallen are included in the Complete Edition of Final Fantasy 16. If you buy the Standard Edition, you must purchase the DLC separately.
The same goes for the console version of the game. Needless to say, you must download and install the DLC to access it.
In order to meet the requirements to access the Rising DLC, you must have done the following four steps:
- You must progress through the main campaign of base FF16 until you unlock the Back To Their Origin quest. You only need to play the game as intended, and once this quest appears on the map, signaling the end game, you are good to go.
- After you have unlocked the Back To Their Origin quest, you must complete the Where There’s A Will side quest. It is only available after you reach the aforementioned main quest.
- After completing the Where There’s A Will side quest, you must embark on another side mission called Priceless. It is only available after you have completed the aforementioned side quest.
- Once you finish all the previous steps, an “Unmarked” letter will arrive on the Reading Table in Clive’s Chambers. Interact with the letter and choose “Yes” to Heed the mysterious request. This will initiate the Rising Tide DLC.
Now, the first step to accessing the Rising Tide DLC is pretty straightforward. However, the latter two side quests have some extra layers to them. Let us point you in the right direction and unlock these quests.
How To Unlock Where There’s A Will Quest In FF16?
When you reach the final act of Final Fantasy 16, i.e. Back to Their Origin, it will come with a slew of side quests. Unfortunately, the Where There’s A Will side quest does not open up right off the gate.
To unlock this side quest, you must first locate Jote in the Infirmary at The Hideaway. Talk to her, and she will give you the Phoenix, Heal Thyself side quest. This quest will direct you to bring back a rare ingredient for a medicine that is used to soothe Joshua’s pain.
It is a simple jaunt to a marked location near Three Reeds, take out a few enemies, pick the petals of a Stonawort, and deliver it back to Jote, and you are done.
Once the Phoenix, Heal Thyself side quest is completed, you can meet up with Joshua at the Boarding Deck in The Hideaway. He will then present you with the Where There’s A Will side quest.
Joshua will ask Clive to visit Tabor together, where someone has discovered their father’s dying will. It will take you on a journey where you meet with Cyril, talk to Archduke Elwin’s aide in the Requietory, bring down a Simurgh, deliver the Heartstone to Goditha, and visit Archduke Elwin’s memorial.
Joshua will join your party after you finish the quest, which is essentially the requirement for Rising Tide DLC.
How To Unlock Priceless Quest in FF16?
The next party member we need to join us for the Rising Tide DLC is Jill. She only joins Clive’s party after completing Priceless side quest. Again, this quest isn’t unlocked straight away. You must finish the Where There’s A Will side quest and then Cut From The Cloth side quest.
Hortense, Keeper of the Stores, gives this quest at the Boarding Deck in The Hideaway. She will task you to find her linen supplier in Northreach and deliver the materials to her. Of course, nothing is that simple in these games, as you will have to track a missing caravan and defeat a dude named Killer. Deliver Hortense the goodies to complete the mission.
After completing the earlier quest, Clive will receive a message in his chambers, which is accessible on the Reading Table. It is a message from Joshua named Concern for Jill. Accept the request, and the Priceless side quest will commence.
It is a series of objectives designed to bring some joy to Jill after all that has happened up to this point. You will then have to go to Mann’s Hill objective marker, watch the cutscene, return to the hideaway, visit the backyard, search for snow daisies in the Royal Meadows, and take out the enemies that pop up.
A cutscene will play once you beat the beasts, and Clive will be transported back to the Hideaway. From here, follow the marker and talk to Jill, watch the final cutscene, and the quest will end. Now Jill will be able to join your party.
With both of these missions done, the (Unmarked) message will arrive at Clive’s Reading Desk. Accept the request to begin your journey to the Rising Tide DLC.
The Rising Tide DLC is the final extra content to be added to Final Fantasy 16. This DLC packs quite a punch. It has jaw-dropping boss fights, new Eikons to unlock, and a short and crisp adventure that feels right at home.
Many players (like me) think that with this DLC, FF16 feels like a complete game. If you were a fan of this decisive entry in the Final Fantasy franchise, then you’d better get and play this DLC; you’d be thoroughly satisfied.
