Can’t Talk to the Blacksmith in the Witcher 3? Easy Fix

Can’t Talk to the Blacksmith in the Witcher 3? Easy Fix

Witcher 3 Wild Hunt was CDProjektRed’s most successful title to date. Released back in 2013, the game set a new bar in the Gaming Industry with its jaw-dropping visuals and intricate story-telling. It sold over 40 million units worldwide. But that’s not to say that the game has a few bugs up its sleeves.

If you can’t talk to the Blacksmith in Witcher 3, run away from the Blacksmith and meditate for a couple of hours. Return to the Blacksmith and you’ll be able to interact with him. If this doesn’t work out, save the game and reload it. As a final resort, close the game and open it up once again, and hopefully, you’ll be able to talk to the Blacksmith.

The Bug we’re talking about specifically is the Blacksmith Bug. So what is it exactly? Well, numerous players have reported being unable to interact with the Blacksmith found in Borough.

But that’s not an isolated case, it happens almost anywhere you may stumble across a Blacksmith. The interaction button just refuses to pop up, and you’re left angrily scratching your head wondering what the heck is going on.

Why Does The Bug Happen?

Blacksmith in the Witcher 3

While you might think this is a Witcher 3-specific issue, you’d be wrong as this happens to be a general issue in most RPG games. Sometimes, when NPCs are busy partaking in one of their assigned interactions, you’ll be unable to interact with them.

In the Blacksmith’s case, he’ll either be hammering away and working or sitting in a chair, and in these particular scenarios, you won’t be able to talk to him.

How to Fix the Blacksmith Bug in Witcher 3

So, here are a few quick fixes for this issue:

  • Simply walk away from the Blacksmith and meditate for a couple of hours, even one is fine in most scenarios. Head back to the Blacksmith and you’ll be able to interact with him again.
  • If this doesn’t work for you, then you can save the game and reload the save file to pop into the game.
  • While the issue must be fixed this far into these fixes, you can still choose to close the game and reopen it to see if it works.
  • While these fixes might work most of the time, you might run into this issue once again, and unfortunately, repeat all the above steps until you can interact with the Blacksmith.

Keep in mind, this blacksmith bug is most probably a Game engine-related issue and there’s no permanent fix for this. Hopefully, CDProjektRed might fix this issue when they release the Witcher 3 Remaster for next-gen consoles and PC.
