We can all agree that Hogwarts wants to push out a bunch of goody-two-shoes wizards. But the dark side is where the real fun is and who doesn’t want to become a Death Eater (I know I do)? Luckily, Hogwarts Legacy gives you the ability to channel your inner dark wizard by learning the Avada Kedavra spell.
The Avada Kedavra spell is the most powerful of these Dark Arts and completely changes the way one would approach combat. But isn’t the cooldown of this spell a little too long?
The Avada Kedavra spell’s cooldown is around 2 minutes, which is longer than any of the spells in Hogwarts Legacy. The reason for this is that this spell is quite overpowered with its instantly killing anything potential. You can lower the cooldown by consuming the Focus potion.
Avada Kedavra Spell
The Avada Kedavra spell is one of the three Unforgivable Curses in Hogwarts Legacy. It immediately kills anyone or anything struck by it, making this the most powerful spell in the game.
According to the lore, this spell is the most lethal form of magic in all of the wizarding worlds and has hence been made illegal to practice.
This spell can make most enemy encounters rather trivial, and even bosses are not safe from its deathly grip.
It is acquired during In the Shadow of the Relic quest. You will be presented with a choice to either learn this spell or refuse the offer. If you want to discover the dark side and uncover this OP spell then this is your opportunity.
The Avada Kedavra spell’s deadliness is further enhanced once you reach Level 22 and unlock the AVADA KEDAVRA MASTERY in the Dark Arts Talent tree. This upgrade adds the ability where killing an enemy with this spell will also kill all the cursed enemies on the field.
Avada Kedavra Cooldown
Knowing the killer impact of this spell, one would assume that this spell is all that we need to coast through the entire game. However, the developers were wise to our vile thoughts and made the cooldown timer of this spell one of the longest of all the spells in the game.
It takes around 2 minutes for this spell to come back after using it. Which is a long time considering the fast-paced action of the game. It might feel unfair to many and hope that this cooldown gets lowered in future updates.
But honestly, the timer is just the right amount otherwise every other spell would be overshadowed by this fatal force.
However, you can lower this cooldown by consuming the Focus Potion right after you have used this spell. This decreases the timer considerably and in the meanwhile, you can curse the rest of the enemies in the arena and take advantage of the mastery talent when the spell is back online.
You can even take advantage of the Focus Potion Potency talent unlocked at Level 22 under the Room of Requirement Talents tree. This boosts the duration of this potion’s effect whenever you cast any spell from the Spell Set. This gives you more time to recover the spell cooldown and the incentive to mix other spells in your combos.
Using the Invisibility Potion to hide from enemies can also give you ample time to recover Avada Kedavra’s cooldown.
A well-timed use of the Focus Potion can reduce Avada Kedavra’s cooldown. Just know that popping the potion is most effective as soon as you have cast the spell. In any circumstance, the cooldown of this spell feels appropriate keeping in mind its lethality. There is a price to pay when you dabble in the Dark Arts.
