Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos is another optional boss right after Celestial Emissary boss fight in Bloodborne. You need to break the huge church window in the Celestial Emissary boss arena to gain access to this boss. Ebrietas is an insanely hard boss and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Luckily, we are here to provide the right insight to put down this cosmic horror incarnate.
Fighting Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos
Ebrietas is easily one of the most terrifying boss experiences I had to endure. From the subtle reveal of her vomit-inducing design to the pure punishment she brings to the table, it was an exercise in patience and learning through countless deaths. You will go through the same frustrations but don’t quit good Hunter!
She has a wide range of attacks that sets her apart from all the bosses in the game. From the erratic use of her tentacles, to summoning otherworldly powers like arcane missiles and frenzy-building vomits, there are a ton of tricks up her sleeve and the YOU DIED screen will become your wallpaper for the duration of the fight.
She is slow at first but has the turning speed of a cheetah, not letting you stay in place to fight in safety. Not to mention, her charge attacks are nearly impossible to predict and react to in time. Most of her attacks have a high chance to one-shot you so be very careful.
She has a second phase but it only adds a few new attacks while everything else stays the same.
Here are some tips you can use when facing Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos in Bloodborne:
- Carry as many Sedatives as you can. Her frenzy attacks are the most frequent death bringers.
- She is weakest to Bolt damage so bring some Bolt Paper to the fight.
- She is also weak to Fire but less compared to Bolt. You can substitute Bolt Paper with Fire Paper if you don’t have enough of the prior.
- Any weapon with the “VS Kin” attribute will deal more damage to the boss.
- Her head is her weak point. When she slams it down, make sure to hit it for maximum damage.
- The area in between her two tails is the safest place when fighting her.
- You can summon Damian of Mensis for this fight. He will be an incredible help in sharing the load.
- Stock up on Blood Vials. You will need them not only for the hard-hitting attacks.
- A Cannon shot to the head will collapse to the ground, giving you an opening to perform a Visceral Attack.
Boss Strategy
The best way to deal with this boss is to position yourself between her two tails. It can be hard to do this since she moves around a lot and her turning speed is quite fast.
Once you can do so, just start hacking away at her, and with every minor move she makes you will move with her. It’s only when she leaps away is when you’ll have to run back to the same location.
When you are in the middle of the tails and are attacking her, try to push the left stick towards the boss. This way, you will stick to her like glue; you might even disappear into her flesh, but keep at it while it lasts.
Buff your weapon with Bolt Paper to exploit her weakness. By doing so, you’ll also be ignoring a lot of her front-facing lethal attacks like the charge, tentacle swings, and frenzy vomit.
At the half-health mark, she’ll lean and begin the transition to the second phase. Keep up the pressure while this happens. Afterward, standing close to her will drain your health passively. You must be using those Blood Vials to keep you topped up or else any stray attack of hers will make quick work of you.
If you get the chance, attack her head after she has performed a head slam attack. You will deal the most damage to her if you attack her head. Also, if she summons the A Call Beyond spell start running in a direction and stop only when the missiles are done dropping.
Stick between those tails, and if things go according to plan, then the fight will be over pretty quickly. It’s just a matter of how many times she repositions herself and your struggle to get back between the tails. Having an NPC summon will surely make this easier.
Moveset
Here are all the attacks you have to look out for:
- Head Slam: Slams her head in front of her if you are close.
- Reaction: Dodge back and immediately attack her head before it goes back up.
- Grab: Catches you and bites you which will start building up Frenzy. One-Shot potential.
- Reaction: Stick to her sides or behind her to avoid this attack.
- Tentacle Lashing: Uses her right or left tentacles to smack you on the respective side. She can combo it with multiple hits.
- Reaction: Dodge back to avoid the combo.
- Charge: She will charge at you even if you are far away from her or close to her. It is not a full-length charge whereby she stops right after she reaches your position. One-shot potential.
- Reaction: Hard to predict. Dodge to the sides, but even then, the stretched-out tentacles might get you. Start running in the opposite direction and dodge to any direction as soon as she’s bout to hit you and pray to god she misses.
- Reposition: Takes a small flight and backs away from you.
- Reaction: Quickly run back to her and move behind those tails ASAP.
- Leap Head Slam: Jumps in the air and performs a more devastating head slam in front. One-shot potential.
- Reaction: Dodge to the sides or back off. Attack the head if she missed you.
- Frenzy Vomit: Fires two shots of Frenzy vomit at you. Frenzy tends to keep building continuously.
- Reaction: Run in a direction or dodge as it’s about to land. Use Sedatives ASAP if they do land otherwise, you are dead.
- A Call Beyond: Functions the same as the spell you can find. She summons a light above her which eventually fires 3 waves with short pauses in between of multiple arcane missiles at you. One-shot potential.
- Reaction: Pick a side and start running until all three waves are fired.
