To me, the Light Greatsword didn’t feel like the most innovative weapon category included in the Elden Ring DLC. The instant I got hold of the Milady, my perspective completely shifted. I’m seriously considering putting this weapon on my top weapons list in Shadow of the Erdtree, right next to the Hand-to-Hand Arts.
Also, Milady is pretty easy to find from the get-go. Let me guide you on how you can get your hands on this Light Greatsword, and then you let me know how remarkable it is.
Milady Location in Elden Ring
You need to first reach the Castle Front Site of Grace. You will get to this place if you follow the northeastern road from the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace, where you first met Hornsent in Gravesite Plain.
This path will take you over Ellac Greatbridge. Be careful of the ballista firing at you from the other end and the annoying soldiers that roam the bridge. Blow past these obstacles, and you will see the Castle Front Site of Grace in the middle of the enemy encampment.
Interact with the site of grace and get ready to enter Castle Ensis, where you will find Milady.
Just behind the Site of Grace, walk over the next smaller bridge to enter the legacy dungeon. There is a giant guarding the entrance of the castle.
This is no regular giant; he has devastating spell attacks, a giant sword, and he follows you even if you try to run away. Make sure to take it out before you progress, or he will bother you later. Once you kill him, he never respawns.
After the giant is down, run up the stairs behind him, and you will reach a cliffside. There are two enemies, a soldier and a dog, on the right side beside a cave entrance. Defeat them quickly since they get aggroed when you approach this place.
On the left side, you will see a wooden stair leading up to a fortress section with a guard tower. You need to go here. A spear soldier and a dog are patrolling these stairs, so try to quickly remove that threat.
Once the enemies are done, go up the stairs and look for the ladder on the right to take you up the guard tower. Climb the ladder, and on top, there will be a chest.
Open the chest, and viola, you got yourself the Milady Light Greatsword.
Milady – Light Greatsword Stats
Milady is a dream weapon for melee builds. It’s light. It doesn’t have outrageous stat requirements: 12 STR and 17 DEX. It starts at D scaling for both the stats, but as you upgrade it, it favors DEX more than STR. You can even slot in any Ash of War you want and experiment with different playstyles.
Despite its modest aesthetics and it being a “Greatsword,” Milady has one of the swiftest, most graceful moveset. It has shockingly long combos that blend a series of thrusts and slashes in a dancer-esque moveset.
The sword also packs a surprisingly simple yet useful Impaling Thrust skill that darts you into an enemy and compliments the weapon’s long reach.
The weapon is upgraded using common Smithing Stones. You can change its affinity to anything you like, making it incredibly versatile. If you want the best scaling, try to use the Keen Affinity or some Hybrid Affinity.
I used it with a Cold affinity to complement my INT/DEX hybrid build, and the results were fantastic. Keep in mind, don’t expect it to achieve S or even A scaling in any stat, so make do with what you have. If you want more information on stats and upgrade paths, please check the Milady Wiki.
Milady might not be the perfect choice for all you min-maxing freaks out there, but you can’t deny how beautifully crafted this weapon is. I would suggest carrying two in each hand and watch as you glide into battle and grind enemies to dust all elegantly.
