Who to Unlock First in Apex Legends

Who to Unlock First in Apex Legends

If you have ever played any Battle Royales, you will probably have heard of or even played Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment’s Battle Royale based on the game Titanfall. When playing the game, you will have a choice to be a Legend. A Legend is a character that you can play as and each of them has their own abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and add-ons. You can also customize every single one of them however you want to with skins, badges, and other cool stuff.

There are a total of 11 Legends currently in-game and they are all different from one another. Since all of them are vastly different, you must use the weaknesses of one Legend and build it up with the strength of another Legend by playing with other people. Out of the 11 Legends you can choose, there are 5 of them that are locked, and it takes a while for you to unlock them with the in-game currency. That is why it is best to know which one you want to unlock first. You can also purchase them with real money if you really want to.

If you are thinking of purchasing Apex Coins, consider going to this Amazon link here to do your purchase.

Here are the five locked Legends:

  • Caustic
  • Mirage
  • Octane
  • Wattson
  • Crypto

Caustic

Apex Legends Wiki

“I don’t concern myself with the ambitions of insects.”

Before there was Caustic, a scientist named Alexander Nox worked at Humbert Labs, the Frontier’s leading manufacturer of pesticide gases. With a glut of pesticides needed to protect the growing Frontier colonies’ crops, Humbert Labs was constantly on the hunt for better and stronger formulas. Nox was one of their brightest scientists and worked day and night developing new gases. But to make sure they worked, he needed to test them on more than just inert tissue: he needed something living.

As he toiled in secret, Nox began to see the beauty in his creations and their ability to destroy anything they touched. But the head of Humbert Labs soon discovered his gruesome experiments, and their confrontation ended with the lab in flames and its chief dead. Today, Nox is missing and presumed deceased. Caustic, meanwhile, now finds new test subjects in the Apex Games, where he puts his gaseous creations to work and observes their effects with great interest.

He is a defensive Legend that is very slow but can do some major damage to any enemy players who come in contact with him. He can drop a trap canister of toxin that when an enemy player comes close, it will explode and release a huge amount of toxin into the air. He also has a Gas Grenade that does the same thing except it explodes on impact. Here are all of Caustic’s abilities:

Nox Gas Trap – Drop canisters that release deadly Nox gas when shot or triggered by enemies.

Nox Vision – Allows you to see enemies through your gas.

Nox Gas Grenade – Blankets a large area in Nox gas.

Mirage

Apex Legends Wiki

“I don’t take myself too seriously. I don’t take myself anywhere. I need to get out more.”

Mirage is the kind of guy who likes to stand out. The youngest of four brothers, he perfected the art of fooling around to get attention. The one thing he took seriously was Holo-Pilot technology: introduced to the illusion-creating tech by his engineer mother, he poured over the mechanisms and learned all he could about them. Even when his brothers went MIA during the Frontier War, Mirage and his mother continued to develop holo devices, and the work brought them closer.

While working as a bartender to make ends meet, Mirage heard amazing stories from his patrons about the Apex Games and the wealth and glory that came with victory. As good as both of those sounded, he knew he couldn’t risk leaving his mother childless – until she gave him a set of customized holo devices and told him to follow his dream. Mirage is now the life of the Apex Games, outwitting opponents and charming audiences across the Outlands.

He is an offensive Legend that allows you to distract enemies and confuse them. He can send out a hologram of himself in any direction you want that will take the enemies shot off of you for a short while. He also drops a decoy and cloaks when knocked down. Here are all of Mirage’s abilities:

Psyche Out – Send out a holographic decoy to confuse the enemy.

Encore! – Automatically drop a decoy and cloak for five seconds when knocked down.

Vanishing Act – Deploy a team of Decoys to distract enemies while you cloak.

Octane

Apex Legends Wiki

“Whoa . . . what a rush!”

One day, Octavio Silva was bored. In fact, he was bored most days. Heir to the preoccupied CEOs of Silva Pharmaceuticals and wanting for nothing in life, he entertained himself by performing death-defying stunts and posting holovids of them for his fans to gawk over. So, this day, he decided to set the course record for a nearby Gauntlet by launching himself across the finish line – using a grenade.

As he lay in triage hours later, the doctors informed him that the damage done to his legs meant his daredevil days were over. That didn’t sit well with Octavio, who turned to an old friend for help: Ajay Che, who he guilted into forging an order to replace his legs with bionic ones. Suddenly able to repair his limbs at a moment’s notice, Octavio decided petty online stunts weren’t enough: the ultimate adrenaline rush, the Apex Games, was calling. Now, he’s going to become an Apex Champion doing the most incredible, death-defying moves anyone’s ever seen. Maybe in the arena, he won’t be so bored.

He is an offensive Legend with the ability to shove a boosting needle into himself and makes him run a lot faster than normal, perfect for getting out of a bad situation. He can also regenerate his health because the stim actually takes health away from you for using it. He can also deploy a jump pad for him and his entire team to use. Here are all of Octane’s abilities:

Stim – Move 30% faster for six seconds. Costs health to use.

Swift Mend – Automatically restores health over time.

Launch Pad – Deploy a jump pad that catapults teammates through the air.

Wattson

Apex Legends Wiki

“Power is everything. You only think you have it.”

Natalie “Wattson” Paquette is a familiar face in the Apex Games, though for a different reason than most. Daughter of the Games’ lead electrical engineer, she studied his manuals to stay close to him and discovered her calling at a young age. Though she could be completely distracted one moment and hyper-focused the next, electricity grounded her – it’s ordered, predictable flow made sense in a way the rest of the world didn’t.

She devoured every book she could on the subject, and eventually became such a skilled engineer that she was commissioned to build the Apex Games’ Modified Containment Ring. Unfortunately, her father died the day it was revealed, leaving her alone. At her lowest moment, a group of competitors invited her to return to the arena with them, assuring her she would always have a home. She now fights alongside her friends in the arena she helped build, destroying incoming missiles, recharging shields, creating fences, and using her pylon to silence fights that get too loud. Nobody knows the arena better than Wattson – anyone who underestimates her is in for a shock.

She is a very good defensive character with the ability to put down walls of electricity to stop enemies from following her and her team. She can also place down a special pylon that will destroy oncoming grenades and will regenerate her entire team’s shields if they are within the radius. Here are all of Wattson’s abilities:

Perimeter Security – Connect nodes to create electrified fences that damage and slow enemies.

Spark of Genius – Ultimate Accelerants fully charge your Ultimate Ability, and standing near interception pylons boosts your Tactical Ability recharge.

Interception Pylon – Place an electrified pylon that destroys incoming ordnance and repairs damaged shields as long as it stands. (Max: 3)

Crypto

Apex Legends Wiki

“It’s hard to be scared when you’re prepared.”

Crypto specializes in secrets; he knows how to uncover them, and how to keep them. A brilliant hacker and encryption expert, he uses aerial drones to spy on his opponents in the Apex Arena without being seen. It’s been noted that his drones have a similar design to those created by wanted murderer Tae Joon Park.

Orphans raised on the streets of Suotamo, Tae Joon and his foster sister Mila Alexander escaped a life of squalor by becoming computer engineers, designing drones that transmit the Apex Games throughout the Outlands. But one day, Tae Joon disappeared with an important company secret, and his sister vanished under mysterious and violent circumstances. However, Crypto claims to have had no contact with Tae Joon, and the case remains unsolved.

Crypto’s motives for joining the Apex Games are almost as mysterious as the man himself. In recent interviews, he claims he is seeking justice – but for what, exactly, remains unknown.

He is very good at locating enemies and scanning the area with his new drone that was added. He can easily spot enemies for his entire team to see and can easily drop an enemy shield with the drone EMP ability. Here are all of Crypto’s abilities:

Surveillance Drone – Deploy an aerial drone that allows you to view the surrounding area from above. If the drone is destroyed, there is a forty-second cooldown before you can deploy another.

Neurolink – Enemies detected by the Surveillance Drone within 30 meters of your position are marked for you and your teammates to see.

Drone EMP – Your Surveillance Drone sets off an EMP blast that deals shield damage, slows enemies, and disables traps.

Conclusion

Each of the new Legends have very different abilities so it is up to your discretion whether you want to unlock them or not. Each of the Legends costs either 12,000 Red Coins or 750 Apex Coins. The Red coins can be received by leveling up, but keep in mind that you only get 600 Red Coins for each level. Apex coins cost around $10 USD for every 1,000 that you get so you really could just pay for all of them if you wanted to.

There are a total of 11 Legends in the game currently so don’t worry if you don’t have the locked ones because you can eventually get them if you put some time into the game. If you like the game, there is not going to be a problem with you working for it because, in the end, you feel a lot better about yourself for actually putting in the work.
