Why is Fortnite So Easy Now? 3 Reasons

Booting into Fortnite after a long time comes with its own set of surprises and disappointments. Epic Games is hard at work and continues to update Fortnite at a constant pace. However, some of these can do more harm than good.

Needless to say, Fortnite welcomes every player that wants to try his/her hand at it. While some players find the transition extremely easy, others might have a hard time. This can hit hard if you were once an avid Fortnite player. However, what has changed exactly, and why is it so easy now?

During the past few updates, Epic Games have introduced a brand new skill-based matchmaking system that matches players according to their in-game MMR. Therefore, any new and returning players are met with easy opponents.

The biggest joy of playing games is the sense of achievement that comes after winning something. Furthermore, Fortnite is a game for everyone, so it is only natural for it to become more accommodating.

How Good is the Skill-Based Matchmaking System in Fortnite?

The new system comes with its own unique advantages and disadvantages. You’re supposedly placed in matches that are extremely easy to play. Therefore, it becomes easier for you to keep on winning. Your nerves relax and you are in your laziest gaming state possible.

However, you’ve failed to notice that your MMR is slowly ramping up with each battle royale you win. Finally, it is time for you to face total destruction in one of the sweatiest lobbies in the game possible.

This experience might make no sense and that’s what makes the new Matchmaking System so useless. However, being useless in one regard doesn’t mean it is not doing the bare minimum. It is much better than being the first one to die every match, but that is all there is to it.

What Makes Fortnite Feel So Easy?

If you think that MMR is the only problem of the game then you’re sorely mistaken. As it turns out, you might not be matching with human players in the first place. There are many reasons why the game might feel easier to play and win. We will be mentioning the major ones below:

You Might Not Be Playing Against Real Players

It’s been a while since Fortnite has added computer-controlled characters in hopes of balancing the game’s ecosystem. This seemed to be a necessary step since it was getting harder for newer players to get started with Fortnite due to the steep learning curve.

This system works in conjunction with the MMR system to provide an equity-focused gaming environment. The bots are intended to behave similarly to a normal player while having a lower skill cap. They are easier to read and can facilitate you in killing them.

However, the community has mixed views on this implemented system:

Needless to say, Fortnite has been improving at a steady pace. There are certain hiccups that might seem bad at first glance. However, they are present for an intended reason. Therefore, they will get polished over time. You just need to sit back and give the Epic Games developers their well-deserved time.

You’re Getting Placed in Bad Quality Matches

Since we’ve already shed light on how the new skill-based matchmaking system works, it is only fair to talk about some of its repercussions. The main problem is that it lacks effectiveness. You might be able to stack 6 or 7 wins under your belt.

Now you might be expecting to face players with similar MMR levels because that’s how it should work right? Instead, you end up getting a weird mix of bots and new players along with sweats that are just looking for an incentive to build the Great Wall of China upon hearing a bullet fire.

While it is still hard to get a Victory Royale in these matches, it is stupidly easy to get second place. You have a greater chance of encountering bots than an actual player. This can be a cause of confusion for many real players as well since it is hard to keep your guard up in such an easy matchup.

You’ve Become a Fortnite God Overnight

As unlikely as it sounds, all your efforts for improving at the game might actually be paying off. While it’s not possible to see such a big difference in a span of a day, small but substantial improvements can account for improving your gameplay.

Therefore, you might’ve gotten good enough to the point where it feels easy to play and win a normals match. The Skill based matchmaking system is perfect for countering these kinds of issues. Therefore, it is only a matter of time before you get placed against players with similar skill levels.

Needless to say, we are not literally talking about an overnight improvement. Rather, it is a player’s gradual efforts at improving that can make him/her excel at what they do.

Is the New Matchmaking System Really that Bad?

While it is not as good as before, it’s not that bad either. You will experience a few hiccups while starting but that will soon start to even out. Since the main premise of the system is to have you match with players that are at just the right difficulty for you, the swing can sometimes be too great.

However, it all starts to even out the more you get to play, Therefore, it is only a matter of time before you begin to experience the good old quality time. With that said, it is still possible for you to get matched with “Super Advanced” players which can serve as a good learning experience.

All in all, putting bad-mouthed kids in their place is a satisfying feeling to get in Fortnite. The new addition of bots in the game has somehow blurred the line between good and bad gameplay.

However, making gradual improvements is the key to increasing your MMR which can help you match against players with true skill.
