Best Pickaxe Enchantments in Minecraft (Ranked)

Best Pickaxe Enchantments in Minecraft (Ranked)

What’s Minecraft without the mining? In Minecraft, you’ll be expected to mine for progress, resources, and upgrades. To be good at mining, you’ll need a Pickaxe, and to get even better you’ll need enchantments. In this article, we’ve ranked the best Pickaxe enchantments in Minecraft for you!

The best Pickaxe enchantments in Minecraft include Silk Touch, Fortune, Mending, and Efficiency. Enchantments can be excellent for raising your tool’s stats, adding new abilities, and creating unique builds.

Pickaxes are incredibly important in Minecraft. They’re incredibly necessary for their ability to swiftly and easily break blocks. You’ll want to make this process as efficient as possible to obtain the most amount of items for your adventures in Minecraft.

6. Curse of Vanishing

Curse of Vanishing - Minecraft Enchantments

Perhaps the worst Pickaxe enchantment you can use is the Curse of Vanishing. Other enchantments will provide some benefit, but the Curse of Vanishing is just a drawback. The Curse of Vanishing enchantment causes your pickaxe to disappear when you die.

If you’re playing as a hardcore character this doesn’t affect you, but if you’re a regular player then your tools disappearing can be incredibly frustrating. Especially, since specific tools are made up of rare materials that are difficult to find and collect. I recommend staying away from this enchantment.

5. Unbreaking

The next Pickaxe enchantment is Unbreaking. It is a significantly better enchantment than Curse of Vanishing. Although Unbreaking is ranked next to Curse of Vanishing, the difference between the utility of these two enchantments is staggering. Unbreaking is a great enchantment that I will recommend.

With Unbreaking Enchantment you can reduce the amount of durability that your Pickaxe loses upon use. This means you can use your favorite tools far more than regularly, and will be able to get a lot more out of exceptionally useful materials and tools at your disposal.

4. Efficiency

Efficiency - Minecraft Enchantment

The next enchantment on our list is the one that makes your ability to mine faster. The Efficiency enchantment is one of the best ones you can get to make your Pickaxe a lot better at obtaining more resources. This is spectacular because resources are incredibly important in Minecraft.

You can expect to be mining for resources for hours in Minecraft, so if there is an enchantment that can make that process go faster then it’ll be highly sought after. A big benefit of the Efficiency enchantment is that blocks that take a long time to mine, like Obsidian or Ancient debris, will have mining time reduced aswell.

Once you try the Efficiency enchantment you won’t want to mine without it, so having a pickaxe with it on your person while mining can be a great boon to your gameplay.

3. Mending

Next, the Pickaxe enchantment, Mending, provides an immense amount of value. This enchantment is probably one of the best enchantments in Minecraft. With Mending you can restore the durability of your items by exchanging your experience.

This is incredible because it means that your weapons, armor, and tools will never break, so long as you’re getting experience frequently.

If you have Mending on any tool, your diamond or netherite sword can be incredibly beneficial. Since this means that so long as you keep killing mobs while farming, your tools, such as your pickaxe will never break.

One tip I will recommend, however, is that Mending is a treasure enchantment, this means you cannot get it from the enchanting table. But you can find Mending enchantments through Village trading instead.

2. Fortune

The second best Pickaxe enchantment in my opinion is the Fortune enchantment. In Minecraft, the Fortune pickaxe enchantment is a loot hunter’s true love. This is because the Fortune enchantment increases both the number of blocks dropped and the chances of rare drops.

Unlike most other enchantments this directly aids in increasing your mining ability. Now you can farm less rare blocks more efficiently because they provide you with more material. And the enchantment will increase your chances of getting rare materials that you didn’t even expect could be received from certain blocks.

There are several finite resources in Minecraft, such as Ores. If you wish to get more of these items, or even to have a better chance of obtaining them.

With the fortune enchantment, not only do you get greater access to these rare and finite resources, but you can increase your yield of materials like diamonds and emeralds. Both of which are incredibly important in Minecraft.

1. Silk Touch

Silk Touch

Finally, our best Pickaxe enchantment is the Silk Touch. You simply cannot go wrong by picking this enchantment to add to your tools, especially with your Pickaxe. The Silk Touch enchantment lets you mine blocks and obtains the blocks themselves. You don’t get the items inside.

Although initially, this can sound confusing, but it’s a spectacular tool for terraforming your area. Its use specifically is highlighted when you notice that the resource itself still is kept inside the block, so you can access them in a safer area. This is perhaps one of the biggest advantages of this enchantment.

Even brewing stands and Ender’s chests are just two more examples of valuable items that break with regular pickaxes, but with the Silk Touch enchanted Pickaxe can be picked up and carried.

This makes resource management much more efficient and obtaining items from specific blocks a lot safer. We can’t recommend this enchantment enough.
