Breath of the Wild is one of those games that many people will buy a Nintendo Switch for. It is a massive game with hundreds of hours of content that will keep most people happy for a long time. The game also has some massive replayability to it so even if you play it once, you might want to play it again after some time passes.
The reasons that Breath of the Wild is soo expensive is that it is published by Nintendo, the game is massive, it is relatively new, all Nintendo titles are Evergreen titles. Nintendo always puts out great games and they will continue to do so for many years to come.

1. It is published by Nintendo
Nintendo is one of those companies that are extremely stingy when it comes to the sales of their games. It seems that the only games that go on sale are the ones that are doing very poorly on the Nintendo store. The games that go on sale are mostly indie games, which that is not a bad thing, but it is the games that Nintendo didn’t make a profit on.
The whole company in the past and even going into the future will probably never put mainstream games on sale because they know that the people will buy it no matter what. If fewer people bought the games, they might have second thoughts on pricing, but for now, we don’t see Nintendo dropping down the prices of their top games.
The top games that do go on sale are big ones, but the downside is that it is only $5 dollars off, which is still better than the base price. When games do go on sale, albeit very rarely, make sure to keep a lookout because they might throw in a great deal that isn’t really being marketed.

2. The game is massive
Breath of the Wild is one of the biggest and best open-world games you can play and it has soo much put into it that it can be overwhelming at times. The game doesn’t really hold your hand in any way and it lets you do whatever you want to no matter where you are. You do need to get off the Great Plateau first before exploring, but once you do that, you are pretty much free to do anything.
If you do end up getting it for its $60 dollar price tag, then you won’t be disappointed at all. You will be caught up in exploring the extremely unique world and defeat all sorts of enemies and bosses along your journey. There are soo many quests and Shrines to complete that you might just spend over 100 hours playing on a single playthrough.
If you don’t like open-world games, we would advise staying away from this one because the whole entire game is open-world. I mean if you are interested in the game, then give it a try because it might be bigger and better than you ever thought it was going to be.
3. It is relatively new
As of this post, the game is only about 5 years old. In gaming standards, that is not a long time. The second game is supposed to release this year in 2022, but that could definitely change. Breath of the Wild still holds up to games that are made now and it will still hold up until its sequel comes out. If you have a Switch with Breath of the Wild, make sure to play it again before the next game releases.
We would say that a game is old if it is more than 10 years old. Yes, 5 years is a long time, but 10 just seems soo much longer when it comes to video game release dates. Newer games always cost more and especially since Nintendo owns it, the price is pretty much never going to come down. $60 is the amount you need for the standard, and the DLC is also worth getting to.
When the second game releases, Nintendo might do a sale of the first game, but it will probably still be $5 to $10 dollars off like they usually do. Your best bet is to find it used on eBay or from a used game store, but buying it digitally will probably be the most expensive way to play it.
4. Nintendo titles are Evergreen titles
If you don’t know what Evergreen means when talking about a game, it basically means it is something that holds up for years and years. Nintendo is a master at making these types of games, and Breath of the Wild is one of those games. Look at Mario games like Odyssey and Mario Party, a ton of people still play those games today.
Breath of the Wild will go down as one of Nintendo’s best creations and will be played for years to come. The sequel will definitely drop the player count of the first game down a bit, but seeing that there is a second one, people who haven’t played the first game might just buy it to play the second.
Hopefully the next game will be as successful as the first or else a lot of people will be angry. No matter what happens, Nintendo is going to put stuff out, and people will buy it. The game does not need to be cheaper because if you enjoy the game, you will get your money’s worth out of it.
