How to Destroy an Armored Door in Rust (6 Easy Ways)

Rust is a survival game where PvP plays a significant role, and it is very much about creating a base to protect yourself and your loot from raids. In most cases, you are either the one raiding other players’ bases or the one getting raided.

A player’s most crucial knowledge is knowing efficient ways to destroy an enemy base. There is a certain level of realism attached to the building mechanics of this game that you should be aware of as you can not change the layout and placements of your walls on a whim.

This article will focus on the Armored Door and how you can destroy it. This article includes:

The Armored Door is the highest-tier door and is the best option for base defense. If the door is put on a weaker door frame, the door frame will be targeted instead of the door itself. The door has a working hatch that allows you to see outside of the door and can be shot through in both directions.

The Armored Door has 800 HP and decays over 12 hours.

Cheapest Way to Get Through an Armored Door

Everything in Rust costs crafting materials to create. Depending on your luck finding some rare materials and playstyle, investing all your hard-earned materials in crafting the ammo to take down a couple of armored doors might not be feasible.

There are moments when you end up using too much expensive crafting materials to remove weaker obstacles which is a waste. Being practical and calculated when raiding will help you create effective raiding strategies and minimize wasteful acts in the long run.

Keeping this rational mindset, we will devise various right mixes of weaponry and munition to take out Armored Doors in the cheapest way possible:

  1. 2 C4/Timed Explosive Charge = Costs 4400 Sulfer
  2. 1 C4/Timed Explosive Charge + 90 Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo = Costs 4450 Sulfer
  3. 1 C4/Timed Explosive Charge + 1 Rocket + 35 Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo = Costs 4475 Sulfer
  4. 1 C4/Timed Explosive Charge + 9 40mm HE Grenade = Costs 2200 Sulfer*
  5. 3 Rockets + 35 Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo = Costs 5075 Sulfer
  6. 10 40mm HE Grenade + 100 Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo = Costs 2500 Sulfer*

*The 40mm HE Grenade is not craftable and can only be looted by Heavy Scientists with a 14% chance. Using this tool will depend on your luck at finding it.

The Satchel Charge is a midgame raiding tool that can be used to destroy player-made buildings to enter and loot another player’s base.

The Satchel charge becomes armed when placed, has a random time until detonation, and has a small chance to malfunction, requiring the user to pick up and rearm the Charge. Note that sometimes the charge will re-ignite when the dud is picked up, going off with a very short fuse.

To destroy an Armored Door using only Satchel Charges, you will need 12, which will cost you 5760 Sulfer.

How Many C4s Do You Need For Armored Door?

The Timed Explosive Charge, mostly knowns as C4, is an item often used when raiding other players. Once thrown, the charge will stick to walls, floors, doors, and deployable items.

Once attached to a target, the timed explosives will automatically detonate dependably and quickly (compared to its unreliable counterpart, the Satchel Charge). However, it does damage only to the structure it’s attached to. If attached to a door, for example, it would destroy it without damaging the door frame or nearby walls.

This item deals the most damage out of all explosive devices and is the most ideal/useful for evicting your neighbors. Protecting this item from your enemies is important, as it can prove fatal once it’s in the wrong hands.

To destroy an Armored Door using only Timed Explosive Charge/C4, you will need 2, costing you 4400 Sulfer.

How Many Rockets Do You Need For Armored Door?

There are two types of Rockets in Rust, each useful in specific situations, and both are fired from the same weapon, i.e., Rocket Launcher. These Rockets are:

  • Rocket
  • High-Velocity Rocket

Rockets will cause splash damage that can hit up to 4 walls at once. This type of ammunition is particularly effective against buildings. Regarding trajectory, rockets are launched forward with a considerable speed upon firing.

However, the trajectory eventually falls off due to the in-game gravity effect. Rockets are currently one of the best tools for raiding and destroying buildings. Rockets are also deadly against players due to their high range of splash damage.

To destroy an Armored Door using only Rocket, you will need 4 in total, costing you 5600 Sulfer.

How Many High-Velocity Rockets Do You Need For Armored Door?

The High-Velocity Rocket is a rocket with much less damage than the standard rocket. However, it is also much cheaper, and as the name suggests, it has a higher velocity than the standard rocket, so it could be useful for rocketing targets at extreme ranges.

Because of its lower cost and damage, it is useful for situations where a full rocket would be overkill.

To destroy an Armored Door using only High-Velocity Rocket, you will need 34, which will cost you 6800 Sulfer.

How Many Grenades Do You Need For Armored Door?

There are three different Grenades in Rust, each useful in specific situations. These grenades are:

  • Beancan Grenade
  • F1 Grenade
  • 40mm HE Grenade

The Beancan Grenade is an early-game tool. They’re used to craft Satchel Charges but can be used alone in raiding. The Beancan Grenade has a random detonation period and can kill a player if it’s within range. The Beancan Grenade has a 15% chance of being a dud. However, Beancan Grenades have a 50% chance to explode when you attempt to pick them up again after a dud.

To destroy an Armored Door using only Beancan Grenades (Stuck using Right Click), you will need 56, costing you 6720 Sulfer.

This is an end-game grenade often used in combat. Unlike the Beancan Grenade, the F1 Grenade is much more reliable as it does not dud or randomly explode.

To destroy an Armored Door using only an F1 Grenade (Stuck using Right Click), you will need 160, which will cost you 9600 Sulfer.

How Many 40mm HE Grenades Do You Need For Armored Door?

sgJMtS8VQF5PC82XMyyW3dj5qZfP rfIiU6iz2 g8PkV1rvBILcs8no iGKcFFtnizP

The 40mm HE Grenade is not a throwable grenade like others and is the ammunition for a 40mm Grenade Launcher, which is necessary to launch this grenade. You can only find these grenades by looting Heavy Scientists; there is no way of crafting them. It is the best grenade in the game.

To destroy an Armored Door using only a 40mm HE Grenade, you will need 29 in total.

These are all the various ways you can destroy Armored Doors in Rust. We recommend the cheapest ways mentioned above as they utilize a combination of the best tools at your disposal to destroy the Armored Doors with the least possible resource utilization/wastage.
