Did you know that there are Uncanny and Lost weapons in Bloodborne? I bet many of you learned about this concept very late in the game. Every trick weapon in the game has an alternate version, meaning each weapon has two (an Uncanny and a Lost) variants hidden in the game, too.
Let us explain what Uncanny and Lost Weapons are in Bloodborne. Furthermore, those Hunters eagerly waiting to complete their collection of trick weapons can go through this article to find out where you can find these versions.
What are Uncanny and Lost Weapons in Bloodborne?
To cut to the chase, Uncanny and Lost Weapons in Bloodborne are by all means the same weapons as their base versions. Their starting attack power is the same, the attribute requirements are the same, the scaling remains the same, any status effect they inflict is the same, and even their attacks/moveset is the same.
You might be wondering what the appeal of these weapons is. Uncanny and Lost weapons have different Blood Gem Stone slots. That might not seem too attractive, but Hunters who thrive to maximize damage will make the most out of these new versions when they have the right gems.
For example, the base Amygdalan Arm deals hybrid physical and arcane damage with a Radial, Radial, and Triangle gems slot. The Radial gem shapes are more physical attack-based, with rare ones boosting elemental/arcane damage.
Triangle gems are more elemental-based, so that will be the only gem that boosts the weapon’s arcane damage (if you can find the gems). This version leans towards a Strength and Arcane hybrid build.
On the other hand, the Lost Amygdalan Arm has Radial, Triangle, and Waning gem slots. Triangle and Waning gems are elemental-based; thus, the chances of finding gems that will boost the weapon’s arcane damage are higher in this variant of Amygdalan Arm. If you are going for an arcane-only build, then this alternate weapon is better suited for you.
It all boils down to your build! Lost weapons and Uncanny weapons have distinct gem slots compared to the base, and the ones that synergize with your build are the right choice for you. If you are a thorough build-crafting type Hunter, knowing about these alternates will help tremendously.
Things You Need to Know
Here are some things you need to know before you start hunting Uncanny and Lost weapons in Bloodborne:
- These variants are only encountered in Root Chalice Dungeons. Not the base chalice dungeons but the ones with the word Root present.
- Root Chalice dungeons are random or procedurally generated, so chances are the weapon doesn’t spawn in the dungeon. In that case, you will have to reload or recreate the dungeon.
- We will provide the exact Chalice Dungeon Glyphs where we discovered the weapons. Using the glyphs guarantees the drop chances, but there is a possibility that these glyphs are inactive now, so either use the alternate glyph or randomly create the Chalice Dungeon (we will mention the dungeon, too) and hope you run into one.
- To access the Glyphs, you must create that particular Chalice Dungeon at your own Hunter’s Dream at least once. You can’t drop into any glyph just like that; you must create a throwaway one yourself. For example, create a Pthumeru Root Chalice at one of the tombstones and then move to another empty tombstone and search for the glyph of the same chalice, and you’ll be able to join.
- For dungeons with Offerings (Fetid, Rotted, Cursed, and Sinister), you must have created the dungeon with the said offering once to visit the glyph.
- Other than the Old Hunter’s DLC weapons, all of the Uncanny and Lost Weapons in Bloodborne can be unlocked without obtaining the base version of the weapon. If the Chalice Dungeon is available, you can drop into the glyph we provided and pick up the weapon anytime.
- As for the DLC weapons, when you unlock a new weapon in The Old Hunters DLC, it will also unlock its Uncanny and Lost variants in Chalice Bath Messengers and the rarer Patches, the Spider shop, for the same price as the normal variant. After purchasing these variants, they will become available in the regular Bath Messengers shop in Hunter’s Dream as well.
