Beginner’s Guide to Apex Legends

Apex Legends is a Battle Royale that is not easy to get the hang of. It took me a while to start getting wins because the time to kill is very high. People seem like bullet sponges in the game but that is just how it is made. If you just started playing Apex Legends for the first tie, there are a bunch of things that you have to understand before you actually get good at the game. Once you get all these tips down, then you will breeze through every match you play. Here are all the beginner’s tips for Apex Legends.

Stay with your Squad

Apex Legends is very different in the way that they do their matches because you can only do a squad of 3 people. There are no solos or duos, except when there is a special event happening. If you play with 2 other randoms, you have to make sure that they are going to work with you, but if they don’t want to, you have a disadvantage because you could go up alone against a team of 3 other people. Always stay with your squad if you can because you have a better chance of surviving with more people. Also, if you have friends that like playing, have them play with you so you can communicate better. The ping system works, but there is nothing like good communication through a chat.

Take advantage of the ping system

The ping system in Apex Legends is probably one of the best I have seen in any Battle Royale game. Ever since the game came out, other Battle Royales tried to recreate the same effect but could never do it as well as Apex did. Since it is really helpful, you should try to use it as much as possible, especially if you are playing with randoms. There are ways to ping basically anything in the game and it is not just basic things. If you ping an open door, your character will say that someone has been there. If you ping a weapon, your character will say what the weapon is. It is actually really detailed and helpful to you and your team.

Always have a plan

After you land, you will have a lot of time before you have to find where the circle will be. Once that circle is placed, you should have a plan on where to go next or else you will have trouble getting to the end of the match. If you have played long enough, you will automatically take the best route, but a new player will have a lot of trouble learning where to go next. It is very helpful to talk to your friends during a match so that you can all agree on a specific place to go. You should also all have weapons and armor so that if you run into some enemies, you will be ready to take them on. Just remember that you have to plan ahead or else there will be another team already ahead of you waiting to ambush you and take all that you have looted.

Be careful where you drop

Dropping is probably the most important decision that you have to make because it could determine if you are going to survive at the beginning of the match. There are different areas with lower-tier loot where not a lot of people drop for, and there are areas with higher-tier loot that a lot of people drop for. High tier has a higher chance of you dying, but if you do survive, you are equipped with better gear. High-risk high reward. The lower areas will guarantee your safety, but you won’t be as equipped as the people who survived the better looting areas. Always have a plan for where you are going to drop because it could mean life or death in the match.

Try to find the high-tier loot

The higher the tier of loot that you find, the better off you will be in the match unless you are going against someone really good at the game. The best items in the game are Legendary items so try to look for the gold items if you are searching for the best loot. Also, look for the drones flying in the sky because if you shoot them down, they might have a Vault Key that will allow you to open one of the three vaults on the map. In these vaults, there is the best loot in the game. It usually has 2-3 Legendary items and the rest are Epic items. If you are lucky enough to find a Vault Key, go unlock a vault, but be careful because there could be someone else outside waiting to take your items from you.

Use your Legend’s abilities

Source: Apex Legends Wiki

There are a total of 13 different Legends that you can choose from and each of them is played very differently from each other. Five of them are locked and must be purchased with Apex Coins or Coins you receive from leveling up. Each Legend has a small ability and a major ability, but the bigger ability takes a lot longer to recover. Also, the speed of each of them is different because of the different body sizes and armor. The best thing for you to do is find the three Legends that work the best together and use them in a full squad. The best squads are the ones that choose the right Legends and talk to each other.

Use your surroundings to your advantage

Always watch your surroundings. Going along with that, make sure you have good sound because you are going to want to hear the enemy’s footsteps to know where they are. Listen for gunshots in the distance and see if you can see any enemies from far away. That will give you an advantage over them. When the two teams stop fighting, you can then go in and take out the team that is recovering from their last fight. You also get to loot 2 different teams for some good gear. Make sure you are always watching where you are going. Also, keep an eye on the circle to make sure it is not nearing you. Even though the circle is behind you, that does not mean it is safe behind you because there could be a team trying to get into the circle.

Try playing passively until you are comfortable with the mechanics

Source: Apex Legends Wiki

Playing passively is the easiest way to survive in each match. The best way to do this is to go to a secluded area and loot everything that is there. Then when the circle moves, go and find a place to lay low in the circle somewhere. As the circle gets smaller, keep finding places to hide until it is finally towards the end of the match. When there are only a few squads left, let the other squads battle it out, and then when the last squad remains, go in for the kill. You will have an easier time defeating them because they are trying to recover from their last battle. You can then run in and take the win for yourselves. I would not recommend you try this method, but if you are starting out, then try this method a couple of times to get used to the mechanics.

Move quickly

Source: Apex Legends Wiki

The quicker you move, the better chance you have of surviving because if you can loot faster than another team, you have a better chance of beating them in a fight. If you drop in the same area as another team, the best thing to do is to get a gun and some armor and try to take the other team out early before they get anything to defend themselves with. Talk with your teammates and tell them where the enemies are so you don’t get flanked by the other team and always keep moving because a moving target is harder to hit than a stationary one. Also, you need to move fast because the circle moves pretty quickly. Try to stay as close to the circle as you possibly can to avoid any damage.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Apex Legends is not that hard to understand and get better at. It just takes time and practice with everything about it like dropping, weapons, and mechanics. It is crucial to understand how other people play so that you can outsmart them and be victorious. There are plenty more tips and tricks for beginners but these will be helpful for the people who are just starting out and want to get their foot in the door of being a good player. Make sure you have fun and strive to be better than you already are.
