How to Get Rid of the Fog in Terraria
What you’re experiencing as the fog is called Ecto Mist. Though, it might as well be fog.
As we said, it occurs when several gravestones are near each other. So, naturally, you need to eliminate those gravestones to eliminate the mist.
Take a pickaxe to any stones or grave markers in the area. Once you break enough of them, the Ecto Mist will dissipate, and provided you don’t let any gravestones build up again, it will never return.
It’s worth pointing out that while it may be annoying to look at, this fog does come with a few benefits to the player, namely enabling unique craftable items.
However, it also spawns several different enemy types that can be difficult to deal with, especially for newer players.
What is the Mist in Terraria Used for?

Should I Get Rid of the Mist in Terraria?

The range of item recipes you can access greatly expands your creative building palette. However, you’re going to have to contend both with the monsters that spawn in the mist, as well as the annoying visual effect itself.
If you’re playing on a new world or a newer player in general, it’s worth destroying the gravestones so that you don’t have to deal with those enemies. You can always take advantage of the mist spawning once you’re better equipped to handle it.
Alternatively, you could use the mist to craft whatever items you want and immediately remove them. It’s a simple problem to fix, so don’t feel pressured by it.
