How to Play Solo in Warhammer: Vermintide 2

How to Play Solo in Warhammer: Vermintide 2

Warhammer Vermintide 2 throws players into the Warhammer universe. It seems to take some inspiration from Valve’s infamous Left 4 Dead series. To make things interesting, developers have added loads of fun dialogue sequences and quips between characters. But can you play the game solo? It’s not as simple as you think it’d be.

To play Warhammer: Vermintide 2 solo, you need to navigate to Select Mission, Custom Game and set the game mode to private. Now, you can choose to either invite players or not. Not inviting any players allows you to use a roster or pre-selected bots to fill three empty slots.

Warhammer Vermintide gives players an experience similar to Payday and Left 4 Dead. To be fair, the game is impossible to play solo as bots will pretty much ignore core objectives.

How to Set Up a Solo Game in Warhammer Vermintide 2

Players that prefer a solo playthrough of Warhammer Vermintide 2 can do so if they’re looking to get all the grimoires and tomes without relying on teammates. But, you’ll have to make some serious tweaks before hopping into the game.

Selecting Bots

How to Play Solo in Warhammer: Vermintide 2

First and foremost, you need to go for the best bots in the game to accompany you through a solo run. It’s hard to decide which classes are the best.

Here are all the characters you need on your team:

  • Mercenary: Markus Kruber
  • Ironbreaker: Bardin Goreksson
  • Victor Saltzpyre: Witch Hunter Captain
  • Kerillian: Waystalker

To select the right bots, navigate to the Manage Bot Hero Priorities option located at the corner of the hero selection screen. Select it and then pick the ideal career option for each character. Click it and drag each character to put them in the right priority.

Gearing Your Bots

Bots will be given a selection of talents and equipment that were previously used by you. This is where things can get a little annoying. You’ll have to play as each character, level them up and equip them with the best gear.

You’ll have to main 4 classes before you can solo play the game. Level up and equip these bots until they’re passable for a decent playthrough. And if you’re looking to play the game on Cataclysm or Legend difficulty, you’ll have to grind it out a bit.

Bot Improvement Combat Mod

The Bot Improvement Combat Mod is heavily recommended to ensure a smooth playthrough during solo runs. It was previously unapproved due to frequent crashes but has been approved now.

How to Create a Solo Game in Warhammer Vermintide 2

Custom Game Creation in Warhammer Vermintide 2

When you’re all sorted out, you need to make a solo game. Navigate to the Select Mission option. Select the custom game tab and enable Private Game. You’ll now be able to play on your own or with any friends you choose to invite.

If you don’t invite anyone, three bots will be selected to take their place. Put all the bots in place and all you need to do is play the game.

You might have noticed we went with four bots for this guide even though you can only pick three at once. The reason for this is to give you, the players, the option to go with either Markus, Kerillian, Bradin, or Victory.

And that’s pretty much all you need to do to get started on your solo run of Warhammer Vermintide 2. We’ve got some interesting guides lined up for you guys, so don’t be shy to check out more on GameVoyagers!
