There are dozens of different types of items that can be sold for Zenny in Monster Hunter: Rise. Only a handful of items have any other uses within the game. While an item is being sold, it is important to know whether that item is better utilized in crafting or melding.
Every time you’ll complete a quest in the game you will receive various items. But these can differ based on your specific quest objective. Yet some items are provided universally. Which is a majority of the more desirable items that are difficult to obtain. This means it can be hard to find worthwhile material to sell.
Generally speaking, you should never sell any materials or items that you received from a monster as a reward for either hunting that monster, capturing it, or completing a quest in Monster Hunter: Rise. Items That Should Not be Sold
Now that we’ve generally gotten the gist of the items that you should be selling. It is time that we look at those items that you should not be selling. These are important items, that are either rarely provided to the player. Or they have a very particular utility that cannot be understated.
What’s important is to ensure that you have a multiplicity of these items in your inventory. Which is why you can use them whenever you desire. And are not restricted by your lack of access to a certain resource at a particular moment in time. It is for this reason that I’ve separated these necessary items by type.

1) Coins
The first item that I would recommend that you do not sell is coins. There are two important types of coins that each as its special usage. The first type of coin is called Arena Coins and the second type is known as Investigation Coins.
Arena Coins are incredibly important items that are obtained by completing Arena Quests. The difficulty of these quests cannot be manually changed, and only substandard equipment is available for their successful completion. These missions are conducted to test the mettle of the player.
There is, however, a reason why you should save up these coins. You can use these coins to purchase unique weapons and armor. An example of the types of weapons you can purchase includes the Mighty Bow Feather. Which you can unlock during the late game.
Investigation Coins are the second type of coins and are earned from completing Anomaly Investigations. Even if you did try to sell these types of Coins they are worth 0 Zenny. It is thus better that you use this currency at Bahari’s Anomaly Research Lab. These coins can be traded for essences, spheres, and other rare monster materials.
2) Plates and Gems
To craft weapons, armor, and decorations, you will need Plates and Gems. These can be obtained from monsters that you have defeated. Whether you have a large number of them stored or not, You should still refrain from selling these items.
These items can be enticing to sell when you are just starting. But even if you’re fetching a high price for them right now, it is not worth it in the long run. And it can be quite the hassle to farm these items again once you need them for upgrades and craftables later in the game.

3) Amber Essences
Another item that is earned through Anomaly Quests is Amber Essences. These are used in Qurious Armor Crafting. These become incredibly valuable later in the game. If you’re a new player then you might not realize just how important these upgrade materials are for the end game.
This is why we recommend that, unless you’re farming these items daily, it is better to save them for your armor and augments later.
4) Support Items
You should avoid selling the following item because it has some support utility. These items include things such as food, medicine, traps, and bombs. While you are out on the hunt, you will regularly find yourself receiving these items as rewards or as items provided to complete the hunt successfully.
It is a general recommendation that you do not waste these items. And you should certainly avoid the trap of trying to sell them. You will be using a lot of these items while you are out on the hunt. This is why stocking up on them now and then is preferable. The profit earned is minimal compared to their utility as a whole.
