8 Best Halberds In Dark Souls 3

8 Best Halberds In Dark Souls 3

There are many weapons in the Dark Souls series, but one of the most fun weapons you can use is the Halberd. If you have played Dark Souls before, you will know that the Black Knight Halberd is one of the most overpowered weapons. They have that weapon in Dark Souls 3. but it isn’t as good as it was.

We have made a list of the 8 best Halberds you can use in Dark Souls 3, each with different uses. They all have different skills and can be used in many different builds.

There isn’t a “bad Halberd, but there are Halberds that are better than others. You might like one better because it might have different upgrades or even Infusions, so if you are wondering, we are going by base stats for the weapons. One might be better than another with specific Infusions.

1. Splitleaf Greatsword (DLC)

splitleaf greatsword

Location: Sold by the Stone-humped Hag for 11,000 Souls. Sold by the Shrine Handmaid for the same price if she is given the Old Woman’s Ashes and it was not previously purchased from the Stone-humped Hag.

This Halberd has one of the most deadly combos of any Halberd in the game. You can defeat any enemy within this one combo if you can hit it right. The only downside to this weapon is that you can only get it if you have the Ringed City DLC. Most people that have the game most likely have the DLC, so it’s not that bad.

It is actually super easy to get, but you do have to either have beaten the Ashes or Ariendel DLC or got to the area before the final boss of the base game. All you have to do is find the Hag in the Dreg Heap and purchase it from her. It is not a super difficult weapon to get, and it is totally worth the Souls.

2. Red Hilted Halberd

red hilted halberd

Location: Found in the Undead Settlement’s sewers. The Grave Key is required to unlock the gate in the sewage system that gives access to this area. It is found at the center of the room where Skeletons attack the player for the first time.

This is a Halberd that is insanely good. It doesn’t have an amazing skill like the previous Halberd, but it does help a lot. It boosts your Poise so that you can’t get interrupted when you start an attack. You do lose health, but you will deal massive damage to the enemy you attacked. It doesn’t have a lot of unique moves, but it has some insane scaling.

It is a weapon that you really should Infuse. It depends on your build for specific Infusions, but believe us when we say this, it is worth finding. You can get this pretty early on so it is an extremely viable weapon for your entire playthrough if you build it right.

3. Gundyr’s Halberd

gundyr halberd

Location: Obtained by transposing the Soul of Champion Gundyr with Ludleth of Courland. You must have given him the Transposing Kiln before you could do this.

This is the only boss Halberd that we have on this list. What we mean by this is that you can use the Soul of Champion Gundyr to get this weapon. First, you must defeat the Curse Rotted Greatwood and get the Transposing Kiln. You must head back to the Firelink Shrine and give it to Ludleth.

Once you do this, you can transpose any Boss Soul into a weapon or gear that the specific Soul can make. This is one of the coolest weapons you can get because it is the weapon that Ludex and Champion Gundyr use. It also has some insane stats, so it is worth the Soul transposition.

4. Black Knight Glaive

black knight glaive

Location: Located in the Untended Graves, in the same arena where Champion Gundyr is fought. The halberd can be picked up before starting the boss fight. As one enters the arena, immediately turn right and hug the wall to find it.

This is a weapon that is near and dear to our hearts. Not only is this an insanely good weapon in Dark Souls 3, but it is also our favorite weapon from Dark Souls 1. If you have used this in previous games, you will know how overpowered it is. It isn’t as good in Dark Souls 3, but it feels similar.

It has an extremely good moveset, and its skill is definitely worth using when you are overwhelmed by mobs of enemies. It also has an insanely large radius, so if you don’t like getting close to your enemies, this weapon is good.

5. Lucerne

lucerne

Location: Found on a corpse at the High Wall of Lothric, in the courtyard guarded by patrolling Lothric Knights, just before encountering Vordt of the Boreal Valley.

This Halberd might look like any other weapon, but it is much better than you think. It has a unique moveset since the weapon is moved around like a hammer. This is cool since it is like having a hammer with an extremely long handle. The skill isn’t the greatest, but the moveset makes up for it.

It is odd because the actual weapon deals with thrust damage without having any sort of thrust attack. What makes this a good weapon is the fact that it can break through shields. Shields are very annoying since you have to hit them a few times to break the enemy’s poise, but this thing breaks through shields extremely easily.

6. Crucifix of the Mad King (DLC)

crucifix of the mad king

Location: Dropped by Shira, Knight of Filianore when she invades the player at Pygmy’s Throne.

This is the only other DLC Halberd in the game, but it is worth getting. You won’t get it until further into the DLC, but it is worth playing with on an NG+ playthrough. When you finally get to the Ringed City, you will probably have beaten the base game unless you are waiting to beat the base game until you beat the DLCs.

If you do get this weapon, make sure you take advantage of the unique skill that it has. It is very odd, but it deals a lot of damage. It also has a bunch of movesets that make it a very good weapon for pretty much anything. Just make sure you have it upgraded all the way.

7. Winged Knight Halberd

winged knight halberd

Location: Dropped by the Winged Knights who wield them in the High Wall of Lothric and Lothric Castle. It is also dropped by the two Gertrude’s Knights, who wield them in the Grand Archives.

This Halberd is one of the first ones you can get. Not only does it have an insanely good skill, but its scaling is pretty good too. Just keep in mind that getting it can be a little tedious. It is not a guaranteed drop from the enemies, so you might need to farm for a bit.

It is one of the cooler-looking Halberds and is worth farming for. If you enjoy using Halberds, you might enjoy this one if you can get it. There are a couple of enemies you can get this from, so try to choose the easiest enemy, just in case you have to defeat them a bunch of times.

8. Crescent Axe

crescent

Location: Sold by the Shrine Handmaid for 4,000 Souls once she has been given the Paladin’s Ashes.

This is a Halberd that you can get about halfway through your playthrough. You must find the Paladin’s Ashes from the Cathedral of the Deep and give them to the Shrine Handmaid. Once you do this, you can purchase the weapon from her for only 4,000 Souls. It is a very cheap weapon.

Remember that even though the weapon’s name has an axe in it, it is still a Halberd. It also doesn’t have the magic affiliation that this weapon had in the previous games. It is a very good weapon, and the skill just boosts the attack power for a short time. Overall, it is a pretty decent weapon to use.
