Many of you have been excited since the release of the new Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. However, it’s quite apparent that everyone is disappointed that it won’t be playable on their previous-gen consoles. This article will explain which consoles Jedi Survivor is not playable on.

Jedi: Survivor Performance On Xbox One and PS4

Jedi Fallen Survivor Not Playable

It is quite regrettable that last-gen console players cannot play Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. If you owned an Xbox One and PS4, then Star Wars Jedi: Survivor won’t be accessible on those systems. Instead, you will have to purchase a next-gen console like Xbox X|S or PS5 for this purpose.

This exclusion of the previous console generation from the Jedi: Survivor’s release had been widely speculated. But a confirmation for this came in the form of an interview with Stig Asmussen, the game’s director. In a March 2023 interview with PLAY magazine, he confirmed that Jedi: Survivor wouldn’t be available on PS4 and Xbox One.

The Power of New-Gen Consoles

As a sequel to the popular Jedi Fallen Order. Jedi Survivor was ambitiously set to expand and improve over the formula of the first game. Developers Respawn Entertainment wanted to create a holistically better experience.

They utilized the faster processors, larger memory, and faster load times of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This created larger maps, more detailed environments, and greater NPC variety and density.

They hoped that by significantly improving every aspect of the previous game. They would create a memorable and worthwhile experience for their fanbase. The previous console generation thus simply could not compete. And its limited hardware would slow down the development process envisioned by Respawn Entertainment.

Was This The Right Decision?

While it may be quite disappointing for many Star Wars fans. Ultimately, I believe it can be agreed that this was the right step towards evolving and growing the Star Wars Jedi game franchise.

It is undeniable that Stig Asmussen and the developers at Respawn Entertainment have used the power of the new-gen to improve the experience. As a player, you receive a more technologically advanced and complete version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. This would not be possible on PS4 and Xbox X|S.

It will be a hassle, though, for many Star Wars fans, especially those that do not own a next-gen console due to shortages of supply.

But with the market for gaming consoles becoming far more accessible, this step will likely be largely well-received by most of the player base. Especially, since a PC port for the game also exists.

Jedi: Survivor won’t be playable on Xbox One and PS4 because the game was designed exclusively for current-gen consoles.

While it may be disappointing for some fans, the exclusion of last-gen consoles seems to be the right step in creating an evolved next step from the original game.
