The Performance of Jedi: Survivor on the PS5
Even though Star Wars Jedi: Survivor runs consistently at 60 FPS. It is quite disappointing to see that the game has an underwhelming resolution, visible screen tears, and a broken HDR system. This too, is only possible on the PS5’s Performance Mode, which forgoes graphical fidelity for better technical display.
Let’s talk about the FPS first. If you’re playing on Quality Mode, you will notice that Jedi: Survivor runs at 30 FPS.
While there are significantly fewer graphical hitches, the screen tears and broken HDR system remain an issue even in this setting. One could even say they’re far worse in this setting than otherwise.
You’ll get more bang for your buck if you use the PS5’s Performance Mode. This mode significantly improves many aspects of the game. You get a more consistent 60 FPS. It might dip every now and then, but it’ll be fairly stable. Moreover, the screen tear issue will remain, as well as the broken HDR.
One additional disadvantage is the underwhelming Resolution within this setting, which will be reduced to accommodate the improved performance of Jedi Survivor.
However, the game is still quite stable and playable even in this setting. And will provide quite a smooth experience for most of you.
Respawn’s Response
The state of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been quite disappointing for many of you. Star Wars as a franchise has a massive fanbase, and many of you must have been excited for the release of Jedi: Survivor.
The uproar from fans has been staggering, so we expect Respawn Entertainment to respond.
Respawn, the developer of the game, has not publically addressed these technical issues with the PS5 version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor yet. Unfortunately, many of you will have to deal with the issues of playing Jedi: Survivor on the PS5.
The silence from Respawn is definitely a shame. These technical problems are dominating many players’ perceptions of the game. Despite Jedi: Survivor being an infinitely better game underneath all the issues, it won’t garner a fraction of the popularity due to this launch issue on PS5.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor runs fairly well on the PS5 in terms of stability and smoothness, the technical issues and limited visual options may be a turn-off for some players. It’s a shame that these issues are holding back what is otherwise a great game.
