How to Beat The Hushed Saint in Lords of the Fallen

How to Beat The Hushed Saint in Lords of the Fallen

The Hushed Saint is the third Colossal Boss in Lords of the Fallen. This guy has a lot of tricks under his belt. He has a horse, a massive spear, a giant shield, and the power of the decrepit forest to back him up. Keep him in your vision or else you are in a world of hurt.

Fighting The Hushed Saint

Preparing for the Fight with The Hushed Saint

The Hushed Saint has two phases. He starts on a horse, charging at you and using his long-reaching spear to take a jab at you. It is hard to keep up with his horse-riding phase so you just have to wait for him to come down.

He will ditch the horse in phase two and come at you with all his might. His attacks have inherent Frostbite build-up.

The fight against The Hushed Saint in Lords of the Fallen can be made easy if you prepare for it and know the following:

  • The Hushed Saint is weak to Bleed and Holy Damage. For this reason, either equip a weapon that deals this kind of damage or apply Bleed or Holy Salts to your weapon.
  • Avoid using Poison and Wither damage against the boss, as he is quite resistant to these damage types.
  • Soulflay will stop this boss dead in his tracks, giving you ample time to attack. Use your Umbral Lamp charges strategically.
  • Lobbing a Javelin at the horse’s face while its charging at you will throw the boss of its back.
  • Heavy weapons and charged attacks will destroy his posture faster than any faster weapon. Use this to posture-break him, leading to a Grievous attack.
  • There are 6 different NPCs you can summon during this fight. We recommend calling The Iron Wayfarer to fight for his heftier health pool.
  • Keep some Frostbite Cures on you to rid yourself of this annoying status effect.

Phase 1

The Hushed Saint Phase 1

The Hushed Saint begins phase one atop a scary horse. Whenever he is on horseback, the boss won’t receive any damage. Best to just avoid him during this point.

He eventually gets off the horse to fight you mano a mano. He gets back on the horse after some time. You can parry attack while he’s on horseback.

The next time he mounts the horse, you will see some Umbral Parasites pop up in the arena. Try to position them in between you and the boss. When the boss is charging you, use the Umbral Lamp to Siphon the parasite, the ensuing explosion will throw the boss off the horse.

Moveset

These are all the phase one attacks and the right way of maneuvering them:

  1. Horseback Charge/ Trample: He will try to trample you with the horse charging across the arena.
    • Reaction: Dodge or run to the side before he reaches you.
  2. Horseback Swing: While on horseback, he’ll use his far-reaching spear to take a swipe at you.
    • Reaction: Parrying this attack will throw him off the horse then you can put some damage in while he recovers. Dodge to the sides if you are not confident with your parrying skills.
  3. Horseback Javelin Throw: He will throw a spear at you. The spear will explode on impact.
    • Reaction: Dodge to the side.
  4. Dismount Jump Attack: He will jump off the horse and try to hit you while in the air.
    • Reaction: Roll into the attack and capitalize on the long recovery after this attack.
  5. Mines: He will plant mines behind him as he charges all over the arena.
    • Reaction: Stay away from his path to avoid getting caught in the explosion. The mines will explode on their own after a short interval.
  6. Root Shockwave: He will send a shockwave after a long wind-up.
    • Reaction: Roll towards the shockwave to ignore the attack. Or you can run away.

Phase 2

The Hushed Saint phase 2

Once the boss drops to half health, he begins phase two. He won’t revert to riding his horse now but still summon it to charge at you while he stays on the ground.

He will be less predictable and quicker with his attacks, but this phase is easier than the previous one if you have his moves memorized.

When he is on foot and using his spear to fight, most of his attacks can be parried so try to do that to chip away posture leading up to a Grievous attack. Many of his ground attacks will be similar to phase one, so we’ll cover all of them in this section too.

Moveset

These are all the phase two attacks and the right way of maneuvering them:

  1. On-Foot Charge: He charges straight ahead with his spear sticking out.
    • Reaction: Dodge into the attack to land near him and get some hits in. You can block this attack too but it’s harder.
  2. On-Foot Javelin Throw: Throws his spear twice at you with the same kind of explosion at the end.
    • Reaction: Dodge to the sides.
  3. Swing: He will swing his spear a couple of times.
    • Reaction: Roll into the attacks to stay near him and do some damage of your own while he recovers.
  4. Overhead Strike: He smashes the ground in front with his spear.
    • Reaction: Dodge away from where the weapon is about to land.
  5. Stab: He will put up his shield and try to poke you with his spear.
    • Reaction: Dodge to the sides.
  6. Jumping Javelin Throw: He jumps up in the air and throws his spear with mighty force.
    • Reaction: When he jumps, start running away.
  7. Shockwave: He sends out a shockwave that inflicts major Frostbite.
    • Reaction: Outrun the wave.
  8. Shield Bash: Uses his shield to attack you.
    • Reaction: Stay clear of the shield at all times.
  9. Teleport: He vanishes into the water and moves to the other side of the arena or on horseback (phase 1).
    • Reaction: Use this downtime to heal. Or track the ripples in the water to predict where he will emerge.
  10. Horse Charge and Jump Attack Combo: He will send his horse in an attempt to trample you, then later try to catch you off guard with a surprise jumping attack.
    • Reaction: Dodge to the side for the horse charge, then roll into the jumping attack. The recovery time after this attack is longer, so use this time to unleash.
