Large Excavator Pit

The Large Excavator Pit is a very useful Monument to visit in Rust where you can find a lot of resources without much difficulty. The only downfall of this Monument is the slight difficulty in utilizing the Excavator itself as every player will get to know what is going on and you will naturally become a target.

There will be respawning enemies, and the entire place will be constantly dozed in Radiation. You will need to gear up accordingly.

What Do You Need to Enter The Large Excavator Pit?

To be able to utilize the Giant Excavator in the Large Excavator Pit, you will first have to defeat all the scientists at that location. It is also crucial to note that you will not be able to enter the location unless you have some sort of protection from Radiation.

A Hazmat Suit will provide you with good levels of protection against the radiation levels especially when you enter the engine room.

There will be scientists protecting the Giant Excavator that you must take down. You should also acquire at least a barrel of oil (or Diesel Fuel) so that you can operate the machine.

You will need to pump the oil barrel into the Excavator’s white tank at the center inside the engine room. Typically, you will need 20 oil barrels to run the excavator for the complete 40-minute cycle.

How to Enter The Large Excavator in the Pit?

To enter the Excavator in the Large Excavator Pit, you will need to carry out some operations. The Pit is filled with NPC Scientists which you first defeat.

After having defeated the Scientists, add the Fuel into the white tank to start the Engine and then head straight up the Monument’s stairs into the control room to select a resource to mine. After 2 minutes, descend down the flight of stairs and head to feed the Diesel Fuel into the tank.

Make sure to stack up to 20 Diesel Fuel so that you can run the excavator for the complete cycle. You will then be able to collect your mined resources from the two available deposit spots. A single Fuel Barrel will burn for 2 minutes of run time.

What Enemies Do You Encounter at The Large Excavator Pit?

Since the Large Excavator Pit is a relatively easier Monument to explore in Rust, you will only face one type of enemy in the Pit.

The whole place will be filled with Scientists littering the Excavator which will make the entire Pit very radioactive. You will need to keep the Radiation in mind when you enter the Pit.

There will be a total of 12 to 17 Scientists throughout protecting the Excavator that you must take down before you can enter the Excavator and start extracting the deposited resources.

As with any other Monument, these NPCs will respawn cyclically for a period of time after being taken down. Plan your approach accordingly so that you can take them all out.
