V Rising Reaper/Magic Mage Build Guide (Highest DPS In The Game)

V Rising Reaper/Magic Mage Build Guide (Highest DPS In The Game)

V Rising has made its mark on the landscape of survival games through its amazing rendition of the world it’s set in along with the tight mechanics the developers have so meticulously designed. Instead of the typical way other survival games work this game is more inclined towards the MMORPG type of gameplay and it succeeds at incorporating these sensibilities quite effectively.

In V Rising you will indulge in the base building and material gathering like others in the genre but one of its core aspects is the types of builds, you end up creating to fight the many foes that roam Vardoran and other bloodthirsty players if you choose PVP servers. A hard-hitting and synergized build will benefit you a lot hence we will help you create one of the best builds you can go for in the game.

Reaper/Magic build is a devastating build if you are more of a mage-type user. For this build you will need the following:

  • The General’s Soul Reaper
  • Scholar’s 100% Quality Blood
  • Veil of Illusion – Dash Ability
  • Chaos Volley & Void/Purgatory – Primary Ability
  • Chaos Barrage/Arctic Leap – Ultimate Ability

Reaper / Scythe

This weapon screams undead slayer and looks amazing while fighting. The reason for using a Reaper is the basic attacks have a nice arcing reach. Along with that, the Reaper’s abilities are quite strong:

Tendon Swing
  • Tendon Swing: Swings the reaper dealing 125% physical damage to nearby enemies knocking them back and inflicting a two-second fading snare. You spin 360-degrees while performing this attack so you end up hitting all the enemies that are surrounding you and its ends up knocking them back as well as snaring them in the process.
Howling Reaper
  • Howling Reaper: Throws a howling reaper that spins in place dealing 20% physical damage every 0.25 seconds for 2.5 seconds, the initial projectile hit slows enemies for 1.5 seconds. This is a really strong ability as it slows down enemies caught within the spinning attack which you can use to your advantage and attack the trapped enemy with any other ability at your disposal, even other weapon abilities like Mace’s. Amazing for setting up follow-up attacks essentially.

The General’s Soul Reaper

The best Reaper/Scythe you can get your hands on is The General’s Soul Reaper which fits perfectly with a Mage build. The weapon has amazing passive bonuses and abilities that put this reaper above others in the game.

Though other weapons are generally acquired using the Research Desk or Study, this weapon is only unlocked by a secret Recipe that you get by defeating a particular elite enemy and using the Smithy in the game to craft the schematic.

The player needs an Orb of Knowledge for the General’s Soul Reaper. Using this orb will unlock the blueprint to craft this weapon at the Smithy. You get this orb by defeating an elite enemy the Undead Commander. This is a level-49 enemy that wields this weapon, though it’s not a V Blood unit it’s still a challenging fight so level up to at least 50 before you face him.

This enemy is found in two locations in Dunley Farmlands either in the Haunted Iron Mine or the Church of the Damned. Be careful of other enemies when facing this one. We recommend that you use the Iron Mine for this enemy as the other location might spawn in a boss when you are busy taking him down.

After defeating the enemy and getting the Orb of Knowledge you will have to return to the Castle Smithy and craft the weapon using the following material:

  • Regular Miststone – 4
  • Greater Blood Essence – 4
  • Iron Ingot – 24
  • Plank – 16
  • Gem Dust – 120

This weapon helps benefit magical uses and while it drops the gear score the damage it actually gives is really good in PVP and the gear score doesn’t really matter that much in late PVP matchups it’s just the stats that this gear gives are worth losing a bit of that attack power. Other weapons with better physical damage potential can be easily dropped for this increased spell damage. The reaper’s ability to slow down with the Howling Reaper and this weapon’s damage boost to spells can be utilized with great success together.

Blood Type

This build requires you to equip the Scholar’s Blood type for the spell-based benefits it provides like increased spell damage, reduced spell cooldown, and spells life leech amongst others. This blood type is crucial to the build so get yourself a steady flow of Scholar’s 100% quality blood.

Abilities

There are a bunch of abilities that you can easily swap out on the fly in V Rising so it can be tweaked to your preference but there are some that we recommend over the others and we will list them down for you below.

Dash Ability

Veil of Illusion: Dash towards the input direction and elude nearby enemies for 2.2 seconds. Your next primary attack deals 25% bonus damage. And you spawn an illusion that throws projectiles that deal 40% magic damage. This gives you a kind of redirect where if you can cast it in time you can dodge back and forth. With the Scholar’s blood active you will benefit from the magic damage this ability provides.

You can jump out then you can recast back in there’ll be an illusion where you first jump and an illusion when you second jump. You can use this ability to play very tricky with your opponents where you can dash away and they start to chase after you only for you to dash back. It’s really effective to have that outplay potential and be able to dodge away and have the ability to outplay your opponents.

Veil of Chaos: Dash towards the input direction and elude nearby enemies for 2.2 seconds. Your next melee attack deals 25% bonus damage. This can be re-casted to dash once more spawning a second illusion. The illusions explode dealing 50% magic damage to nearby enemies. This is a more melee-focused dash and should be your second choice.

The travel distance is a bit shorter but the benefit is that you can use it to dodge multiple times when dealing with enemies’ abilities/attacks, this allows you to sidestep abilities that enemies might use to engage on you and also help in keeping your distance.

Primary Abilities

Chaos Volley: This is a crucial ability and should be prioritized over others as it is the best DPS ability in the game. It launches 2 Chaos Bolts in a sequence that deals 125% magic damage and inflicts Chaos Burn.

With a hundred percent scholar blood and the General’s Soul Reaper if you hit both of these Chaos Volleys anyone who’s the same level as you is going to lose half their HP. If you have the soul shard which gives you an extra 10 magic spell power this ability will further benefit from this. It is the strongest pure damage/magic damage ability in the game and can easily shred enemies.

For your second ability you can choose amongst the following:

Void: Summons an orb that explodes at the target location, dealing 70% magic damage and inflicting Chaos Burn.

You can use two of these at a time and if you have the 20% reset cooldown chance from the hundred percent Scholar’s Blood along with luck you could theoretically deploy multiple of these in quick successions and it creates a zone of damage that opposing players will have to waste their dashing ability to dodge which you can follow up with other attacks. If they don’t dodge then they take a good chunk of 70% magic damage.

Purgatory: Call down a pillar of energy that slows enemies in an area for 1 second and heals allies for 40% of your spell power. After 1.2 seconds the pillar erupts in a powerful burst of energy dealing 75% magic damage to enemies and healing allies for 75% of your magic damage.

The healing from this ability scales off with your spell power and everything in your arsenal helps boost the spell power so you are looking at great healing numbers. If you are part of a clan then rocking this ability will benefit your whole party, especially in harsh conditions.

Sanguine Coil: Launch a projectile that deals 75% magic damage and leeches 40% health on enemy hit. Heals ally for 100% and self for 40% of your spell power on ally hit.

This is a strong ability that can be versatile with healing or hurting. This too is based on your spell power so you will greatly heal yourself and your allies when running this mage build.

Ultimate Ability

Chaos Barrage: Launch 4 Chaos Orbs that deal 75% magic damage on a direct hit, and 75% magic damage to enemies in an area and inflict Chaos Burn.

Staying at a distance and firing this barrage of heavy-hitting projectiles will help you either support your allies in a melee skirmish or keep your enemies at bay. This is also amazing considering the raw DPS it delivers.

Arctic Leap: Leap into the air and strike down at the target location, dealing 225% magic damage. A nova of frost erupts from the impact location, freezing any enemy hit for up to 6 seconds, enemy vampires are frozen for 3 seconds.

The 225% magic damage in this mage build is insane and will annihilate most weakened enemies along with freezing others in the process for you to continue the punishment. For the range attackers, this ability will send you towards the enemy within the melee range in which case you could use your reaper powers to finish the kill.

Summon Fallen Angel: Summons a fallen angel to fight for you for 15 seconds. Attacks made by the fallen angel inflict amplify that increases damage taken by 25% for 5 seconds.

This ability will provide a helping hand on the battlefield and once it inflicts the enemies you will be able to deal extra damage.

This mage build is more inclined towards the choice of scythe i.e. The General’s Souls Reaper and the Scholar’s 100% Quality Blood along with the Chaos Volley ability, everything else you can mix and match according to your playstyle. We have mentioned the best abilities that we have found to work well with this build. This ability relies heavily on boosting magic power and dealing magic damage in general.

Keep the Scholar’s Blood flowing and you will have this badass build ruining other vampire’s life all the time.
