The 10 Best Weapons in Dark Souls 3 and How to Get Them

The 10 Best Weapons in Dark Souls 3 and How to Get Them

There are many weapon types like swords, greatswords, axes, hammers, spears, pyromancy, miracles, and many others. Every weapon has a purpose and is used for something different.

Each weapon can be infused with a certain material that gives it a different trait. An infusion can also change the damage and stats of the weapon, but it always makes up for the loss of a certain stat for something else in return.

When choosing a certain infusion, you have to be really careful about which one you pick because if you make a mistake, you waste precious materials like gems and souls.

1. Uchigatana

Location – This is a challenging weapon to get if you are just starting. It is worth a try to go for this weapon initially because it is the best Dexterity weapon in the entire game. Once you get to the Firelink Shrine, walk out the main door. Once outside, take a right and head down the pathway with many bloodstains.

You will eventually come across a deprived man with an Uchigatana. All you have to do to get the weapon is kill him, but this is no easy feat. There is a way you can easily kill him, and that is getting him to fall off the cliff next to where you fight him. Once he falls off, the sword will be given to you.

Infusion – There are multiple builds that a player with this Katana will be using, and those are either a faith with pyromancy build or just a straight-up dexterity build. If you are going for the faith with pyromancy build, your best bet for infusion would be chaos infusion to maximize damage with fire. A dexterity build will be best by using a sharp gem to maximize damage with the blade.

Best Level – If you want a dexterity build, upgrade your dexterity to 40-50 because that is the most you can get out of scaling. If you are going for a magic build, split your points into dexterity and intelligence because it will help with your magic damage and ability.

2. Sellsword Twinblades

Location – There are 2 ways to get the Sellsword Twinblades. The first is the easiest way to get them, and that is creating when you start a new character. In the character customization screen, all you have to pick as your starting class is the Mercenary, and the weapon you start with is the Sellsword Twinblades.

The other way to get this is when you reach the Road of Sacrifices and enter the swamp area. Spawn at the Halfway Fortress bonfire, then run past or kill the Lycanthrope Hunters. Keep running until you find the entrance to the destroyed keep. Once there, turn left and run past the Black Knight, and the Sellsword Twinblades will be on the right.

Infusion – If you are going for a dexterity build, it would be best to use the sharp gem to infuse it because it has very good damage scaling as you level up. Even if you are going for faith with dexterity build, it would still be good to infuse it with sharp. Just add a Yorshka Chime with it if you are going for faith.

Best Level – If going for a dexterity build, it would be best to bring your dexterity up to 40-50, and with the sharp infusion, every level will make the damage scale even higher than normal. With a faith with dexterity build, you will want to keep both faith and dexterity at about 30-40 to balance everything out.

3. Dark Sword

Location – It is very different because the only way to get this sword is to farm Darkwraiths. The Darkwraiths can drop it in Farron Keep, located right before the Abyss Watchers fight, and the Darkwraith right after the Tower on the Wall bonfire.

There is another main spot to farm the sword, and that is near the Farron Keep Perimeter bonfire. Near the bonfire, 2 Darkwraiths start to fight some Ghru. The Darkwraiths will likely win the fight, but it significantly drops their health. You can then run in, and finish them off to try and get the sword.

Infusion – The best thing you can do to get the maximum amount of damage and useability out of it is to infuse it with a refined gem with 40 dexterity and 40 strength. It will take a little while to get up there with the points, but it is worth it. You can use either crystal or lightning if you want.

Best Level – I said before that you need to have 40 strength and 40 dexterity, but it is not required to have both of them that high. When you start, you need to farm souls to get your stats higher, so getting to where you want to be will take a while.

4. Murakumo

Location – There is only one way to acquire this weapon, requiring you to be right before the Irithyll Dungeon bonfire. Once you get to that initial area, an invader will come into your world by Alva, Seeker of the Spurned. Remember that you must be remembered for someone to invade you. All you have to do to get the weapon is to kill her, and it will drop.

Infusion – The best way to use this weapon is through a faith build. Infuse it with sharp and apply lightning for the maximum damage you can get. Not only does this weapon do well with PvE, but it also does pretty well in PvP if that is what you are looking for.

Best Level – The best attributes you can have for this weapon are 25 strength, 30 dexterity, and 30 faith. This will help in the elemental effects you put on the weapon during a fight and help scale the damage even higher.

5. Heysel Pick

Location – This can be found by killing an invader named Yellowfinger Heysel. Remember that you must be numbered for him to invade. All you must do is go to the Road of Sacrifices, and he will spawn. Kill him and get the Pick. Alternatively, if you can’t get him to spawn, a worm in the Rosaria’s Bed Chamber will drop it, so don’t worry if he does not spawn because you can get it later on.

Infusion – You don’t have to infuse this weapon because it is used mostly for sorceries. The weapon is usually two-handed and can be used as a regular weapon for extra damage. This weapon is for people who like playing aggressively and using magic and sorceries.

Best Level – The best levels for the Heysel Pick would be 20 strength, 20 dexterity, 60 intelligence, and 15 faith. All of these upgrades help in the scaling of the base weapon and also help increase the abilities of the spells that you will be casting. It is the perfect balance between melee and magic.

6. Arstor’s Spear

Location – It is very easy to get this spear because you must defeat the Cursed Rotted Greatwood. Once you defeat it, it will give you a Transposing Kiln and the Soul of the Rotted Greatwood. After getting the items, return to the Firelink Shrine and transpose the soul into the spear. It also only takes 1000 souls to transpose, so it is very cheap. Other than transposing, there is no other way to get this weapon.

Infusion – This weapon can’t be infused or buffed in any way but can be upgraded. The only way to upgrade it is to use Titanite scales, and the way you get them is to find them somewhere in the world or kill a very big enemy that is not a boss.

Related:

Best Level – Not much could be said about the levels that make this spear great, but it does best with dexterity scaling. To maximize the scaling, upgrade your dexterity to 40-50, and you will be all set. You can then focus on upgrading other things like vitality and endurance.

7. Chaos Blade

Location – You won’t get this weapon until far into the game. The only place you can get this blade is by beating Champion Gundyr. Once done, go to the corresponding spot where you fought the Swordmaster to get the Uchigatana. It is sitting right there on the ground where he is standing near the Fire Link Shrine.

Infusion – This is another weapon that can’t be infused or buffed. It is upgraded with Twinkling Titanite, which is the rarest upgrade material to find. You can also only upgrade it to +5 because that is all that Twinkling Titanite requires you to have.

Best Level – This weapon is the best Katana in the game and has the most physical damage than any other. It is best used with 30 strength and 40 dexterity, but the only downside to this weapon is that it slowly, I mean slowly, drops your health bar. You can counter the effects with specific rings and miracles, so it’s not a huge long-term deal.

8. Twin Prince’s Greatsword

Location – This is probably one of the hardest weapons to get on this list because it requires you to beat a boss twice, one in NG and another in NG+. You must beat the Twin Princes twice to get it because you have to combine 2 swords to get it. Those two swords are Lothric’s Holy Sword and Lorian’s Greatsword, and they can be created through soul transposition.

Infusion – This weapon can’t be infused or buffed because it is a soul weapon. It can be upgraded with Titanite scales and does well with scaling. It also has a special skill, but that is because it takes at least 1 and a half playthroughs to get.

Best Level – Because it takes soo long to get this weapon, the most damage you can get out of it is to have 40 strength, 40 dexterity, 40 intelligence, and 40 faith. For those who have just started and want to use this weapon, good luck…

9. Zweihander

Location – This weapon is easy to get because all you have to do is go to the High Wall of Lothric and let Greirat out of the cage. Once he is back at the Firelink Shrine, you can buy the sword from him for 6000 souls. If he dies, you can give the ashes to the Handmaid, and she will sell the sword to you.

Infusion – The best thing to infuse this weapon is a sharp gem because it has good scaling damage. It is also very good at slicing enemies. You must keep in mind that this weapon has a special ability called Stomp where you do a lunging attack and deal massive damage.

Related:

Best Level – The best attributes of this weapon are 20 strength and 40 dexterity because dexterity scales better with level while strength stays the same. If you can, place the first level-ups into the strength and dexterity slots to have more damage versus health and stamina.

10. Battle Axe

Location – This is the starting equipment for the Warrior at the start of the game. You can also find a Deep Battle Axe, which is very good if you can get it, can be found behind the fire-breathing dragon in the High Wall of Lothric. I would highly recommend getting the Deep Battle Axe because of its damage.

Infusion – The Deep infusion of the weapon has the best stats you can get from the weapon, but as I have said before, you can get one from a mimic. I would highly recommend this weapon for starter players because it is very easy to use, even in later games as well.

Best Level – You could do a raw build with 65 strength, but the Deep infusion with 40 strength and 40 dexterity will do you much better. Plus, it deals extra deep damage to the enemies you are attacking. Here is a DS3 Guide on Amazon if you are interested.
