Well, in this article, we will be going over our thoughts on the top 10 worst weapons in Terraria. Obviously, we are going by what we have seen in-game and what other people are saying about them. If you do like any of these weapons, they are still pretty bad, but fun to use.

1. Copper Shortsword

Location: It is the starting weapon once you first create a character

The Copper Shortsword is the weakest of the swords in the game. It is the starting weapon that most people throw away once they craft a Wooden Broadsword. It is soo bad that the Copper Axe does better against enemies than it does. If you do try to use it, good luck, but it takes a long time to defeat anything with it.

2. Wand of Sparking

Location: Found in regular Chests on the Surface or Underground

The Wand of Sparking is an early-game magic weapon found in regular Chests on the Surface or in the Underground layer. It fires a piercing spark along a parabolic curve, traveling about 16 tiles before dissipating. It was one of the worst weapons in the game, but the Journey’s End update did give it a buff.

It is now sort of useful and it is a great weapon for early game, but after that, it is pretty bad. If you do find it, make sure to sell it to get some money from it so it doesn’t go to waste.

3. Slime Gun

Location: It is a drop from King Slime

The Slime Gun is a novelty weapon that deals no damage. It auto-fires an arc of slime that inflicts the Slime debuff on players, enemies, and NPCs, causing them to drip blue goo for 30 seconds. It is absolutely useless because the debuff does nothing to anything. It is pretty much there to be a meme and it is fun to play around with for a bit before you sell it.

4. Flintlock Pistol

Location: Can be bought from the Arms Dealer

The Flintlock Pistol is a gun that fires bullets. Sporting a fast attack speed, it deals 10 base damage. It can be bought from the Arms Dealer. It does not deal any knockback. It is by far the worst gun in the game. You can’t use it to craft anything, and it is basically a pea shooter. The damage is terrible and if you do see it, don’t waste your money on it.

5. Blowpipe

Location: Can be found randomly in Wooden Chests near the Surface or Underground

The Blowpipe is a ranged weapon that auto-fires Seeds and Darts as ammunition. When a Blowpipe is in a player’s inventory, there is a chance that any vegetation growing on normal grass blocks will yield some Seeds.

This weapon is one that a lot of people hate to find. It takes up space in your inventory and it is by far one of the worst in the game. If you like it, good for you, but we absolutely hate it. If you do get it, make sure to sell it to gain a little from it.

6. Pearlwood Sword

Location: Crafted with Pearlwood from the Hallow Biome in Hardmode

The Pearlwood Sword is an alternate version of the Wooden Sword made using Pearlwood from The Hallow. It can only be naturally obtained in Hardmode because the Hallow biome only emerges after Hardmode is triggered. While it is the best type of wooden sword, it is also the weakest Hardmode-exclusive sword.

We don’t know why the developers added this to the game, but it is there. It is basically a starter sword that you can only craft after Hardmode. It is pretty much a meme weapon and it is kind of funny how it was implemented. It is only viable if a friend gives you one when you first start out the game on a new character.

7. Harpoon

Location: Dropped by most enemies during a Goblin Army with a chance of 1/200

The Harpoon is a unique pre-Hardmode ranged weapon. It auto-fires an arcing projectile that is connected to the player via a chain and returns after reaching a maximum distance or impacting. Its physics is similar to launched flails, though it is highly affected by gravity.

It is a cool weapon to have, but it is not a very good weapon, especially if you are close to beating the Wall of Flesh. If you do get invaded pretty early on by the Goblins, it might be a decent weapon to use. The only downside is that there are way better weapons to use even early on.

8. Sandgun

Location: Crafted from Illegal Gun Parts, 10 Antlion Mandibles, and 5 Topaz at a Furnace

The Sandgun is a ranged weapon that can use Sand, Pearlsand, Ebonsand, or Crimsand as its ammunition, which is affected by gravity. When the sand projectile hits an object, it will turn into a clump of Sand Blocks that will gather on the ground.

This is one of the most useless guns in the game because of how odd it is. It literally shoots sand. Yes, it might neem good because sand is everywhere, but it makes a horrible mess. The sand falls wherever you shoot it and it just makes the area look terrible. It doesn’t have bad damage, but it is really a gun you make for the fun of it, not to use in battle.

9. Gatligator

Location: It is purchased from the Traveling Merchant for 35 Gold Coins in Hardmode only

The Gatligator is a Hardmode gun that fires as fast as the Megashark and shares the 50% chance not to consume ammo. This weapon is very inaccurate, spreading bullets in random directions over a spread of about 30 degrees, making it very difficult to hit enemies from a far distance.

Related:

It is by far one of the worst guns in the game because of how inaccurate it is. It is almost as bad as the flintlock, but it just shoots a little bit faster. It is not a terrible gun if you know how to use it, but most people don’t have the patience to learn how it works.

10. Venus Magnum

Location: It is a drop from Plantera

The Venus Magnum is a Hardmode gun and when Musket Balls and Silver/Tungsten Bullets are fired from this weapon, it gains the properties of High-Velocity Bullets but retains their original damage. While it cannot be auto fired, the Venus Magnum’s use time is lower than most semiautomatic weapons, allowing it to be manually fired at a similar rate.

It is definitely one of the better weapons on this list, but it is not a super viable weapon against anything. There are people who do enjoy using it, but most people who play Terraria usually sell it or throw it in a chest to never be used.
