Weapons

The build is primarily focused on using a Mace and with this weapon we also recommend using the Slashers for their abilities.

Mace

The Mace recently got an update and now has its Q ability buffed allowing it to deal 150% physical damage, giving it even more oomph on the battlefield than in the past. The Q ability lets you slam the ground dealing massive damage and on top of that it will inflict a 2-second snare which is great for stopping enemies in their tracks. The E ability smacks the opponent dealing damage and knocking them back also incapacitating them.

Slashers

The Slashers are a backup weapon that is utilized for their mobility skills to get in and out of the action. If you are kind of stuck while battling you can use the Slasher’s Q ability that allows you to dash around and capitalize on its i-frames. The camouflage E ability is really nice to get out of sticky situations and to sneak near an enemy to deal a punishing Mace Q ability or any other attack that you like.

Skills / Abilities

The combination of skills used in this build and their respective playstyles are listed below:

  • Veil of Frost
  • Frost Bat
  • Mist Trance
  • Heart Strike

Veil of Frost / Frost Bat

For the dash ability, we are using Veil of Frost for its synergy with Frost Bat. Though you can use it for dodging the idea is to play it aggressively with the frost dash as the shield is great for blocking damage and as this is a melee focus build all our abilities will be focused on setting up melee combos with the Mace. The frost dash’s shield gives you a bit of damage tanking while you close in the gap charging at your opponent as well as the Chill effect slows them down and is great for frosting flicks meaning you only have to hit one Frost Bat for the freeze to proc.

You fire the Frost Bat and then you dash in to get the freeze off and then you can use the Mace’s E ability to smack them back to further incapacitate the enemy and then you slam with the Mace’s Q ability to deal a huge chunk of damage. The Frost Bat provides a great ranged option mid-battle and also to set up melee combos.

Mist Trance

The Mist Trance is not here primarily for its barrier potential but rather for its reset cooldown ability for the weapon skills so you can dish out even more melee combos without pauses in the middle. The mobility it gives is great too as when you get hit when it’s active you turn immaterial and you teleport to a cursor location so you can use it as a gap closer to chase people. You can effectively use this skill by using the Mace Q ability first then use Mist Trance to reset the cooldown and use the Mace’s ability again to deal massive damage in a short span all the while applying approximately 4 seconds of snare if you pull this combo off quickly.

Heart Strike

The Heart Strike ultimate is used for its mobility, chasing people, and staying on top of them to maintain pressure. It also offers the opportunity to escape by dashing away. The main purpose is to slam through the opponents dealing a lot of damage as well as healing you for 150% of your spell power over 3.5 seconds and then it erupts to deal even more damage.

The increased mobility helps in chasing someone and chaining various deadly combos. For example in situations like castle sieges where an opponent is at the door trying to escape and you activate this skill to chase after them and then use your Mace’s Q ability to slam at them then use Mist Trance to reset the cooldown and slam again then frost dash at them to apply chill and fire a Frost Bat to completely freeze them giving you more opportunity to deal even more punishment and they just can’t get away from you.

Necklace – Nightstone of the Beast

image 6

The Nightstone of the Beast is the necklace of choice for this build for its boost to both Physical Critical Strike Chance and Physical Critical Strike Damage and also the Physical Resistance it provides. This piece of jewellery gives you the potential to dish out more crit damage while also sponging damage that comes your way.

Blood Type Choices

This build can utilize multiple types of blood for various advantages and these are listed below:

  • Warrior Blood
  • Rogue Blood

Warrior Blood

image 7

The Warrior blood type provides a raw increase in Physical Power and the 20% increase means you will be dealing even more damage. The Reduction in Cooldown of Weapon Skills perk is added benefit for this build as on top of getting your Mace’s weapon ability to reset from the Mist Trance your abilities are always quick to come back up which is obviously the core idea of this build to stay close to opponents and use Mace Q ability as much as you can to pulverize them each time. The reduced damage taken and 25% damage boost when striking enemies at full HP perks are also good to have. The parry is nice too but we are primarily using this blood type for the first two perks.

Rogue Blood

The Rogue blood type is useful for the increased Critical Strike chance it provides. It is great if you want to crit a lot, especially on your Mace Q ability making this attack even deadlier. If you are not bothered by the weapon ability cooldown and are satisfied by relying on Mist Trance alone then the raw damage you can get from this blood type is worthy, to say the least.

This is a melee-focused build that has the Mace and its Q ability at its center and everything else is there to set up combos that deal massive damage to your enemies and try to minimize any chance of your opponent escaping your clutches and keeping the pressure on them. If you can learn the combos suggested above and the way this build works then it will be a fun ride to obliterate your opponents left and right.
