We will cover the basic melee/magic caster strategies here:

Melee Strategy

Melee Strategy

Sir Gideon Ofnir has access to many of the same spells as you have gathered throughout your journey. He uses both Sorceries and Incantations, some of which are quite deadly.

Nevertheless, many of his spells have long casting animations, giving you a great window to deal melee damage. Another great move is to perform a heavy jump attack as soon as his animations begin and he will fall down to the ground like a chump. You can really lay into him during this time. His spells can also be interrupted in the same way.

The arena is filled with pillars that can be used to block his ranged spells. Move in to attack when you see an opening.

If you move quickly enough, you can get behind him and perform a backstab or two. Be careful when standing close to him as he might summon a Black Flame circle which can be quite devastating.

He is easy to fight generally but his spells choice can make things a bit hard for you.

Magic/Faith Strategy

Magic/Faith Strategy

Magic users will benefit from the Eternal Darkness spell. This spell will render most of Gideon’s ranged spells useless. It will absorb those spells, providing you the ease of casting your own offensive from the safety of the void it spawns. Just make sure you are not in the way of the spells traveling to the void. Also, Eternal Darkness stays active for a small duration so keep recasting it.

Adula’s Moonblade, Glintstone Pebble, Glintstone Cometshard, Comet, and any fast-firing spell will be beneficial for this fight. Gideon likes to roll a lot more hence quick-firing spells will catch him most often.

Faith builds can opt for Lightning projectile spells for quick casting. Better yet, go for the Frenzied Burst spell to simply obliterate the boss as he is extremely weak to frenzy procs.

You can also summon a spirit to hold his attention while you pummel him with your spells.

Can You Cheese Sir Gideon Ofnir?

There are two ways to cheese Sir Giedeon Ofnir, the All-Knowing,:

Frenzy Cheese

Frenzy Cheese - Sir Gideon Ofnir

There is a frenzy cheese that will only work when you face this boss for the first time. He will start a monologue as you get near him and will not move or react when he is ranting. Take this opportunity and equip the Inescapable Frenzy spell and grab the boss.

He is weak to frenzy procs, and this spell will annihilate his health in mere seconds. He might die in a single use or if he survives, stay close to him and try to grab him with the spell again. Even if he heals with his flask, he will be done in just two to three successful uses of this spell.

Poison / Rot Pot Cheese

Poison / Rot Pot cheese - Sir Gideon Ofnir

There is another cheese if you want to defeat him without even actively fighting him. All you need is the Assassin’s Gambit Ash of War, a bow, Poison Pots, and Rot Pots.

Walk up to the boss fog gate and use the Ash of War and sneakingly crouch walk to the pillar on the left close to the platform he is standing on. If you do it right, the boss’s health bar will be visible but he will not have noticed you.

Stand behind the pillar so that you are not in his line of sight and manually aim the bow as seen in the picture above. Throw the Poison Pot first and watch as it lands near him and poisons him. Next, throw the Rot Pot and let it affect him too. You might have to adjust the aim depending on where you are standing.

His health will start to whither away very fast if both these pots landed successfully. Wait for both the status effects to wear off and repeat the process.

If you stand perfectly behind the pillar, the boss will remain oblivious to your presence and will die in due time.

Sir Gideon Ofnir has an impressive arsenal of spells at his disposal. However, he is quite weak for a boss. Most of his spells are the ones you have too so you must be aware of their patterns. It is like facing a PVP fight but without the brains of an actual player. He is all-knowing but I guess he doesn’t know how to fight.
