You will have a build similar to a Tank with extremely high DPS Stats by the time you are about to complete the game.
Needless to say, you can still opt to play with it in cooperative play with teammates, but you will not really feel much of a difference.
Whether you play the Campaign solo or with allies, you will be at the frontlines tanking and dealing most of the damage anyways. But you may have the advantage of allies taking some agro away or healing you when you get lost in the turrets barrage and lose track of your health.
What Perks does The Engineer start with?
The Engineer starts with a Prime Perk automatically available at the very beginning, called ‘High Tech’. This Prime Perk is unique to this Archetype alone and can be upgraded at various points upon leveling up the Archetype.
Once active by holding down the Skill button, this Perk can Overclock a Carried or Dispatched Heavy Weapon. Overclocking will give you infinite Ammo reserves with an improved Fire Rate and a 25% Damage output improvement for around 15 seconds. Cooldown: 60 seconds.
When you first upgrade it after reaching level 5 as an Engineer, this Perk will provide you with an Overclocked state that can last up to 20 seconds instead of just 15.
After the final upgrade, once you reach Level 10, this Perk will provide you the Overclocked state for a 25-second frenzy.
All the other Perks are unlocked from level 1 onwards and are not automatically accessible at the start.

DOUBLE PRESS: This will reclaim your weapon and return 75% of the remaining ammo.
Along with all this, heavy weapon ammo will be regenerated at a 1.25% rate every second.
The second Skill is unlocked at level 5 and is called ‘Heavy Weapon: Flamethrower’.
PRESS: This dispatches a Flamethrower Turret that can last until its Ammo reserves are finished. Turrets can focus and aim at targets prioritized by the player. If you press the Skill button again, it will turn on autonomous targeting instead.
