Is Godskin Noble Optional?

Godskin Noble Optional

Godskin Noble is an optional boss in Elden Ring. Almost every version of this boss is optional.

Strategies for Defeating Godskin Noble

Below are some strategies for defeating the Godskin Noble boss in Elden Ring. The build you selected will determine the approach you should go for. We will cover the basic melee/magic caster strategies here:

Melee Strategy

The Godskin Noble loves to stab a lot with his fencing style of fighting. This means that he can drain your stamina super fast either through all the dodge rolling or blocking with a shield.

The boss also throws fireballs if you are further away from him and even spawns a circle of fire around him when you are near. Both of these attacks require you to roll away in time.

He will surprise you with a belly push every now and then and chances are you will never see it coming. Luckily, it doesn’t deal a lot of damage. If you are at arm’s length from the boss, he likes to thrust his sword and the reach is pretty long.

Usually, it’s a single thrust, which is easy to roll away from, but sometimes he performs multiple quick thrusts, and these can make quick work of you.

Melee Strategy

Having any spell/incantation or items that buff your weapon with bleed will be a godsend during this fight. You can always use a bleed weapon like Katanas. He is extremely susceptible to this damage type, and it will take away huge chunks of his health in an instant if you are able to proc it.

If you are confident about your parrying skills then this boss will be a breeze. But if you are not that good then do not be bothered otherwise he will punish you for failed attempts.

Sometimes the boss will inflate himself and when he does that he’s gonna do one of two moves. He is either going to fly up into the air and slam down, it is easy to avoid with a bit of distance. The other thing he can do is he will inflate and then begin rolling toward you.

He won’t stop till he hits you so take refuge behind a pillar in the arena and/or get ready to roll away multiple times before he stops. He stops to catch his breath after the rolling, so move in to put some damage in him.

The move where he slams the hilt of his sword into the ground, usually twice, is the perfect opening to deal damage after you have successfully dodged it. The recovery is high, and the target is open.

The second phase will begin with an AOE explosion so move out of the way. His moveset stays the same with the addition of the explosion and a couple of flame attacks.

As a melee build, you want to stay close to him. This is very risky but staying away will usually result in him poking you with his sword, and that is very lethal.

Magic/Faith Strategy

Ranged Magic and Faith builds will have to watch out for the fireballs he throws. The windup on this attack is short, and it will catch you off guard. He moves fast too to cover the distance so any spell that will longer to cast is going to be detrimental.

Magic/Faith Strategy

Magic builds should stick to Glintstone Pebble and Comet. As for Faith builds, if you have bleed spells/incantations like Swarm of Flies, they will work like a charm.

He is also weak to sleep, a single sleep pot or a couple of sleep arrows will put him down while you pummel him with all you got. Lightning Spear and other lightning spells will also deal a lot of damage.

Keeping room to fire spells is very hard during this fight. You will have to constantly dodge his relentless aggression and move to the other side for the casting to occur. For this purpose, any Talisman or item that boosts your stamina regeneration will be incredibly helpful.

It can either be a charged heavy attack or if the sword has a weapon skill that deals massive damage. You want to try and get in around 3 such hits before he completely wakes up and gets cranky.

If done right, the boss will be stunned, and you can move in to perform a critical strike, taking away a huge chunk of his health. From here on repeat the same loop and this fight will be over before you know it.
